Z930 Mulching Kit…. Observations

I bought the mulching kit for my Z930 when I purchased the mower earlier this year. My goal was to mulch up leaves in the fall.

Well, I have used the mower twice since putting on the blades. Needless to say, it does a FANTASTIC job and the remains of the leaves are next to non-existent.

I’m going to put my lawn sweeper on the market given how well this has worked for me.

I’ve always used mulch kits also, I am also happy with the results.

Honestly, I should have a ZTR with a mulch kit a long time ago.

In the spring I’ll give it a final mulch and then take the kit off.

Sometimes people just listen…. but the path to success is figuring out how someone else is having success, copy, and then innovate beyond that. .

I’ve only used a zero turn once and it was borrowed but on my previous riding mowers and tractors I’ve always used a mulch kit. The one on my current JD seems the best.

Never 'mulched' the leaves. I let 'Mother Nature' and her wind blow them down the road.

I thought about that, too, but we’re in behind a hill so they don’t blow too far…

I live on acreage - trees aren’t that plentiful, so I don’t get overwhelmed…. However, there are still enough to be a pain - so the mulch kit is a real wonder! I use a blower to push anything in the landscaping into the grass and then boom, they go bye bye.

I would alway recommend one of these for a ZTR. And after having my ZTR for the summer, I’d ALWAYS recommend a ZTR!

I bought this Grasshopper 721D back in 2003 when it was about 10 years old.
It has 61 inch RD deck and does an excellent job in mulching grass clippings and leaves.

No visible grass clippings if the grass is moved regularly at reasonable height, but it will load up the 700 cc / 18 HP engine (Diesel) a lot if the grass is too
tall & wet.

No problem, slow down the ground speed or mow little more often.

I’m really pleased with my JD unit. Built like a tank and enough power to mulch/cut anything … plus speed, too!
