I’ve mulched two times now with my ZTR and the mulching kit installed. WOW…. What an amazing result from doing so. I’m very happy, my lawn looks wonderful, and I only have to use my blower to get clear out the rocks before I cut. What a difference!

That's my routine, as well. Run around the house, barn, and wood lot with the handheld blower before mowing, to put all the leaves trapped up against structures or in gardens out into the lawn. Then mow over them.

When leaf load gets high, I blow them all to the woods on either side of the property with a larger blower, but mulch them into the yard when leaf load is low to moderate.

How's the deck lift work? Not the usual spring-assisted pedal arrangement?

You're greasing your spindles several times, all inside 60 hours? What's the recommended interval, in your manual?

Not saying you're wrong, but actually wondering if I'm not doing mine enough. I run 75 - 120 hours per year, and grease them once per year. For some perspective, that'd be every 2-3 weeks of pro use.

Oil can go a long time, probably many hundreds of hours if used continuously, but aren't you concerned about leaving corrosive combustion contaminants in the crankcase over winter storage?

Exactly. So, spend $15 and change the oil more than once every 2 years! :D

I still have and use a 1971 Toro push mower. It was my only/primary mower at two houses prior to this one, but here it just gets used for odd jobs. I also had a 1963 Cub Cadet 123, until about ten years ago. Both got yearly oil changes, even if used only once during the preceding year.

That is a beautiful machine! I always wondered how the deck stays at a constant height with shock absorbers, though? Always seems like the shock absorbers would cause the deck to dip in hard turns, etc.
The deck lift works fabulously. Very easy when I need to lift it if I’m going over something or getting ready to drive to the shed.

The suspension doesn’t beat me up at all (and my lawn is bumpy in spots). I do have the upgraded seat and it is quite comfortable. I did have an issue with my seatbelt not retracting and I had to replace it - plus I purchased one of the Deere rubber mats for the foot area that works nicely.

yeah. I used my blower to make the piles smaller and/or also blew them into the pasture.

Regardless, it worked fabulously…. I should have had this along time ago.

My 530R came with a mat, and the (amazingly nice) little foot rests. I'm surprised your R model didn't.

No. I ordered mine through aftermarket. I did notice at the dealership that the smaller model on the floor did have one, though.
