I bought a ZD331 last year for mowing. I used it 31 hours all year. The mower has been idle since November. I'm wondering if I should get the 50 hour service now or wait until midsummer until I hit the 50 mark. Is there anything I should do to get ready for mowing this spring?

I have a ZD323 that we used to cut the grass 3 or 4 times last year (bought the place in the fall). I parked it and put a float charger on it over the winter. Added fuel preservative (power diesel or something like that) and removed the pulley tensioning spring on the deck so the belt wouldn't take a set. I also rolled it a couple feet every few weeks to keep the tires from getting a flat spot. I don't plan to do my 50 hour service until 50 hours.

I would guess at the very least you will need to charge the battery. Possibly replace it if it won't take a charge.

I purchased a ZD21 last year - used it ~50 hours (has a total of 180 hours now) and put it away for the winter (pulled the battery), power serivce for the fuel, grease and WD 40 the moving parts etc. This spring I plan on changing motor oil only and do a complete service when it calls for it.

I would have changed the oil/filter before you put it away in november....clean it up good and thats it...
