Zero Turn Rear Tire Suggestions

I put some like that on my Craftsman and while it gave good traction to keep me out of my pond, it will dig a hole in the grass in a heartbeat if I get aggressive on a turn. The Craftsman is so light that the tires spin easily, it may not be that much of a problem with your heavier mower, but with weight, comes more traction and more digging ability, so just be careful.

You said it all Gary - you put them on a Craftsman.

When my Grasshopper dealer friend was building a new house the contractor was there and they were going over options and the contractor was costing them as they discussed them. When the guy complained about the price of things his wife, who was normally very submissive, piped up and said "do you want a Grasshopper or a Craftsman?" The contractor said that was the last bit of complaining he did about price.

I am also considering switching out the stock rear tires on my Hustler Fastrak SD with tires like the Kenda's. Do the tires give a more cushioned ride, or do they not make a noticeable difference?

That Craftsman would not hold straight on even a slight hill with the turf tires. I can be used on a slight hill with the bar lug tires. I used it for 2 seasons and then bought my Ferris for the smoother ride. The Craftsman is now just for mowing in wet areas around my ponds. I can go thru mud and water with it without getting stuck (most of the time). During wet seasons I have some pond overflow drains that cant be mowed for months with my Ferris but I can do most of them with the Craftsman. If I ever need replacement tires for my Ferris it will be some sort of bar lug tires.

These bar tires can be run at a lower PSI than some of the turf tires. By lowering the PSI in any tire it will soften the ride, but it will allow for more lean if you are mowing hills. The tire on the lower side takes more weight and due to the low pressure the sidewalls will lean or roll a little. For me, it's acceptable and the benefit of better traction far outweighs that disadvantage. You could lower the PSI in your existing tires to see if you notice a difference.

Lowering the pressure helps but since there is a good distance between bars you do get a little clunk, clunk, clunk if you have them pumped up. Softer I do not feel it much. I run mine around 8 psi.

I know I'm reviving an old thread, but I have a Kubota Kommander, and I also have some hills that the turfs tires are trashing, and it's just not safe to use them. The tires are a unique size (thanks Kubota) and they are a 22x10-14. Any chance of finding a chevron tire in that size? I'm searching, and even considered new wheels, but I'm uncertain on lug pattern.

I think you are gonna be best off to get new rims.

14" rim is odd for a tire that small

The turf tires on my zero turn were terrible on our hills.
I replaced them with Chevron AT 101 bar tires (I run 8 PSI in the zero turn tires)
Made a massive difference. The same hills that were always a problem (and dangerous) to mow with the turfs are no problem at all now

I wish I could find some chevron bar tires for my mower, but it would mean trying to find wheels that fit as well. Those tires I listed should make a big difference.
