Sorry, by mistake I mentioned snapper not producing these anymore but I meant Toro. Have a friend who owns a Toro dealer and they no longer offer these, although I just noticed TroyBuilt makes one but only one deck size.

I guess that explains why is says "limited availability" in the link I posted. They are probably selling out the current inventory.

The cub cadet system is different than anything on the market to my knowledge. I currently use a Toro Groundsmaster that has power steering and turns only the back steering wheels. The drive wheels just drive and do not pivot with the rear steer wheels. I get very little tear out in the yard and with the offset deck I can almost turn around 180 degrees and meet the uncut grass like a zero turn. I know that it is an odd booger but meets my needs very well.

Very nice commercial grade unit, no junk there!

Front deck mowers with a steering wheel is a different animal. Almost a zero turn. My old F725 John Deere is awesome.

The Craftsman ZT7500 zero turn I owned for a couple of years took some practice to avoid tearing up the turf. On top of that it would beat you to death.

The longer wheelbase of those units help out with the ride. I really don't understand the appeal of a fast zero turn. My ground is so rough that speed is governed by terrain anyway. Size of deck cut to me is where I save the most time.

can somebody explain how the cub cadets work with a steering wheel? Is the steering wheel just a hydraulic manifold that takes the place of the arm levers or does it actually turn steering tires?

We have a local Ferris dealer and he has been very successful. They are priced higher than most other units but utilize IMHO heavier duty bearings that are grease-able. Most all of the other units use sealed bearings. I find it interesting that Ferris has developed units without their proprietary suspension system to hit a lower price point.

Toro has addressed this ride issue with the new MY RIDE system but they still use sealed bearings which I do not like.

When I was shopping around for a zero turn, the ones that I saw with a steering wheel where the lower end home owner models with a single hydraulic pump that runs both tires. The bigger commercial mowers all had two hydraulic pumps, one for each tire, and the handles directly control each pump. To me, this was a much better system.
