ZTR on hills, are they pretty safe?

There is no way I would take my L2800 or previous B7500 or the Mitsubishi sideways across my pond dam like i do with my Grasshopper, I had a hard time with my RER Snapper, I had to shift my weight to keep ballance.
My grass must be different than the grass in your area for you to slip like you did.

You said you weren't sure whether to ask the dealer to bring it out for a demo, or to just pass on the idea and save the money.

Seems to me that you really need a demo to see if it will work for your application. There's no point in buying it if won't do what you need it to do.

Our GH has high traction package on it. That is wide back (two wheels) and "chevron bar" tires. It is true that it will not climb really steep hill but my four wheel drive tractor doesn't make there either. We have a hitch ball on the back and we were able to pull trailer loaded with rocks or wood behind it to quite steep slope (15 to 20 deg is my guess) on dry grass. When wet it would climb by itself but not with the trailer even empty.
