I recently added 4 lights and a strobe to my ROPS, and I thought I would share them with everybody.
The lights are 50 watt HOBBS Trapezoids purchased from Messicks
The Strobe was a "extra" one from work...
I also added a rear 12v outlet while I was in the wiring mood.

Yes, I drilled the ROPS /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif, I know the consequences of my actions, I am a big boy and can take the heat, No further comment is necessary /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The first pics is of the 4 switch bezel's I installed in the left fender...

Kenny as always your projects are a class-act. Nice clean looking installation of lights. Now you can plow snow all night long. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Great looking installation!

Where did you get the bezel and switches?

The bezel's and switches are from a marine store here locally, I think it was West Marine?

Thanks for the kind words...

Strobe must have fallen off a phone truck!! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif Great job Kennyd!

I have always been of the opinion that "extra" items should be put to good use. If you don't use them they will go bad. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Nice job, Alan

kennyd ,

Nice work , I have looked at doing the same. Did you wire your lights through a relay or direct to the switch ?

Mark,
I used one 30 amp relay with a 30 amp circuit breaker to feed the new lights and the electric diverter I put on last year. This provides power to the 20 amp rated switches for the lights, witch in pairs draw just over 8 amps.

kennyd ,

I have a 4110 not many good places to mount the relays and associated stuff. Where did you mount yours ? I do like the switch bezel and switches. I also saw them in west marine the other day xmas shopping.

Good job. Do you have the higher amperage alternator then?

The relay is mounted under the fuse panel, there are some pics in this THREAD about my diverter install.
Thanks for the kind words.

Nope, here are my thoughts, The factory headlights are 55 watts, and JD gives you a hookup on one worklight.

I will not be using the new 50 watt front lights and the headlights at the same time, so I am save 10 watts there, So I figure I am only over the factory setup by about 3 amps or so...

Plus the alternator upgrade is $390.00 /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif and not even gold plated. If I burnt it up, I will try to have a local starter/alternator shop rebuild it, may with a little more juice /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Kennyd ,

Boy , Looks like you have done alot to your 4110. I am a bit ignorant when it comes to hydraulic plumbing /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif , but I am getting a great education about it from reading posts like your on the diverter install etc. I hope you do not mind me asking a few more questions on the wiring for the lights. It was hard to tell from the picture of the 20A breaker , is that a self reset type ? Or a blade fuse type ? Also can you confirm that my understanding of how you wired the relay is correct.

Pin 30 = Power in from the breaker/fuse - 10 guage wire
Pin 85 = To Ground
Pin 86 = To ignition switch - On position
Pin 87 = To light switch on fender

The feed from pin 87 I assume you used for power in each on the switches on the fender ??

Instead of the seperate breaker / relay setup , I have a hella relay left over from another project that has a built in 15A replaceable blade fuse attached to the side of it. Would that be ok to use for 1 set of lights ? If so , could I swap the 15A fuse for a 30A and use it for 2 sets of lights.

I am current using the spare work light feed that JD provide on the back of the 4110 behind the seat. I'd like to add more lights /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Again thanks in advanced for the help. I'd rather ask the right questions ahead of time ...
