How timely. My MIL just left yesterday!

Just like the old joke: What is the definition of mixed emothions? Your MIL driving over a cliff in your new Porsche!

OK,

More pictures. I drilled two 1" holes with a hammer drill and pounded in the plug and feathers. Notice how I use the hand-held mini sledge, don't need to kill it with force. The next post will show the rock split up.

Here is the rock split in 3 pieces. It makes a creepy cracking noise when you pound in the plug kind of like ice cracking beneath your feet.

Now for the big rock. I couldn't budge this rock from the hole with the hoe - Woods BH6500 so I had to split it in the hole and pull it out in pieces.

I was able to pull this piece out of the hole with the hoe but could only use the FEL to push the rock around. I split it up with a sledge hammer because the plug & feathers put some cracks in the rock that I was able to work.

And I was left with this piece in the hole. It came right out of the hole with the hoe and broke up easily with the sledge because it was already cracked.

I haven't heard of plug and feathers. Looks like a chisel and a couple of wedges. Where did you purchase these items ? I haven't seen a rick split with a chisle before. Thanks for the information. good pictures David.
