Then what is the exact definition of a subcut. Where do they start and end vs other cuts?
I see people saying time and time again that the Max is not a subcut, but every time I've asked them to define subcut I have yet to get an answer.

Seems like we had a "discussion" on that very thing not long ago and if I remember correctly, it got close to testy and nothing was resolved. I guess it's kinda like **** "I can't define it, but I know it when I see it." Of course never having personally seen such a thing, I can only go by what others tell me.

If the person claiming the Max is not a subcut can not explain to us exactly why it isn't, when its right on the boarder one why or the other, then don't say it.

I don't think this is a hard concept?

it is...
ladder frame, low ground clearance, light weight, physically as compact as possible?

its not...
a compact with small tires. (ie, New Holland T1110 was the same concept.. that was very short lived.)

I see the sense and the Max tractors do fill a niche, but they lack many of the qualities that have made subcompacts so popular.

The CK20 in the above comparison is also not a subcompact where the BX2360 is. you should expect it to be a more powerful machine. A B2320 is marginly more expensive and a more fair comparison (with an invaluable 3-speed rear end!). IMO.. I'd love to see that 3-speed rear drift down into the subcompacts.

Thank you.
That is the best answer I finally recieved so far on what a defines a subcompact.

Seems this is the same arguement rehashed all over again, kind of a disservice to the OP and others who could care less about the subcompact vs. compact arguement. Sure hope we can all agree to stop trashing everyones threads everytime the Mahindra Max is mentioned.

When you have the pallets of stone delivered have the delivery person spot them where you need them. That is what I do for most jobs as proper staging and placement of the materials can save you lots of work. Most paver pallets such as what you would buy from a big box store average about 3500 lbs, cut stone such as flagstone can run up to 6,000 lbs. I don't recommend the purchase of a fel setup suitable for a single job. You can move a couple of layers at a time with forks or your bucket.

I was just thinking the same thing. You wouldn't need that much larger tractor if you use a little bit of that old fashion labor. Oh and you should have added Massey Ferguson to your list. Just my opinion haha. I'm surprised Don didn't mention that.

Radrock,

You are right, I should have added MF. I will look at the MF1526 to the bunch as well. I like what I see, including 3 speed HST. Will have to kick it, sit in it and price it out.

Thanks.

I really like mine. It has cruise and the throttle is in the hydro pedals. But it is side by side hydro pedals and you said your wife likes the rocker type pedals. I don't know if you can get the skidsteer bucket or not but it does have an option for a quick coupler and they sell the forks for them too. You just have to check one out and pick what you are most comfortable with. I think they are all good tractors no matter what. You will have some kind of problem with whatever you get sometime or another.

I don't see anyone trashing? pointing out an improper comparison is done regularly.

Well, I have looked a little further. I have contacted the one and only Massey Ferguson dealer within a 50 mile radius about the MF 1526 and GC2400. They have NEITHER in stock and really do not have much else that is not Kubota orange. They referred me to another dealer further away who had one of the two in stock to kick it's tires and if I liked it, let them know and they could get one. This does not really give me a great warm and fuzzy feeling.

I have also stopped in to look at the the 1023E and 1026R. Both can do autoconnect if I want to use MMM. 1026 has a little more HP, position control, NOT the self parking FEL but then again, I really do not plan on taking this off too much, so that seems to be a wash for me. Non-haggled price for the 1026 was 13,800.

The JD dealer will do free pick up/drop off for ALL service, warranty or not. Kioti dealer would do the same. They will also be a sponsor of the county farm fair NEXT WEEK. I asked if they ever do better pricing at the fair and was told yes.

So ... if it were to come down to the CK20 and the 1026R, which would you recommend, price not withstanding? If I could get even a better deal at the fair next week, would that sway your recommendation? I would certainly be ready to pull the trigger at the fair if that is the way to go.

Thanks!
