Penetrating oils tested

   / Penetrating oils tested #31
Found this on different forum; interesting:

Penetrating oil . Average load .. Price per fluid ounce
None ................. 516 pounds .
WD-40 .............. 238 pounds .. $0.25
PB Blaster ......... 214 pounds .. $0.35
Liquid Wrench ... 127 pounds .. $0.21
Kano Kroil ........ 106 pounds .. $0.75
ATF-Acetone mix.. 53 pounds .. $0.10

The ATF-Acetone mix was a 50/50 mix (1 to 1 ratio)."

The above has one typo (which was in the original article as well): Instead of ATF it should be PSF (power steering fluid).

I hit a lot of WalMarts in my travels at work, they usually have clean bathrooms and I like to browse for closeouts.;) I've never seen Kroil but I hope they do start carrying it around here...I always have to mail order it.

I bought Kroil when I was working on a car that had sat for 15 years. I sent away for it . Just about everything was frozen in place . I did a lot of spraying ,tapping and waiting to free things up. The Kroil paid for itself as nothing broke or stripped. For everyday use I use WD 40 or PB.
