Has anyone had a similar experience with Liberty Backhoes?

6/23/2015 I placed an order over the phone, estimated arrival 7/23/2015

7/21/2015 Received an email notice that I would be getting shipping info by the next day.

7/21/2015 Received an email from GM Alex that shipping has been delayed and new date is between 8/10-8/14 and I would get $154 credit for the inconvenience.

8/24/2015 Called in to check status, supposedly on its way shipping info to follow.

8/25/2015 Received email from GM apologizing for not getting back right away and notifying me that the new ship date will be 9/28/2015

8/28/2015 Called and canceled the order, was told accounting would refund my payment ASAP

9/1/2015 Emailed and requested a cancellation confirmation and refund, they said by the end of the day

9/4/2015 Called with the same above request, promised immediate action

9/9/2015 Called again and finally received an email confirming my request and was told i should receive an email from accounting

9/10/2015 Called my credit card and filed a disputed charge for non fulfillment

It would appear that this company uses every trick in the book to keep your money as long as they can and not ship anything.

STAY AWAY FROM LIBERTY BACKHOES!

My advice is to buy local when you can and avoid this company!

They are ordering it from China I am sure.
Thing about that is you got to pay them folks in China before they put something on the water.
So you probably caught this importer in the between time with no stock on hand and container not here yet.

FWIW - I see many places carry the China backhoes at all about the same price. IF that is what you want you can probably find an outfit more local to you with one in stock.

Thanks! Your right, I have been looking local and I have a couple of options. At least I can go see it, buy it, take it home and use it. No hassle.

I ordered mine from Liberty about the same time of year as you did, but it was in 2012. Took a long time to get it, but I knew that would be the case because all the reviews I read said the hoe is well built, but takes forever to get shipped. I did get impatient with the endless excuses and delays, but the Liberty rep gave me a free 8" bucket and extra PTO shaft for my troubles. All in all I think the product is very well built. Just know going in that you probably will not get it in one or two weeks unless you order one in late fall or the dead of winter. Liberty is in Arizona (or was) and they advertise just enough to get a full container shipped and do not place the order until 90% of the units are spoken for. They then have to assemble them, QA?QC, fill and grease, and then test the units before shipping. So there are plenty of steps in the process that could slow your order down. I just wish they would explain this to the customer rather than use stalling techniques.

Fawken,
Thanks for that, at least I don't feel like I was roped into a total scam. I agree if they are upfront and honest about delivery it gives a chance to plan accordingly.

The one Dusty linked looks interesting.I noticed it doesn't come with a pump so unless you have rear remotes you'll need a pto pump. You cannot tell from a picture what the actual build quality of these things is. Look for reviews from actual buyers before you pull the trigger or better still look at one in person first. I like mine and it is easy (less than 5 minutes) to hook up or take off. I used it a lot the first year, now to be honest about once or twice every 6 months.

If I had a good heavy little tractor fall in my lap like Massey 231 or some such cheap I would make up a heck of a subframe and get one of those cheap hoes and semi permanently attach it to it.

I ordered one of these November 30. Ship date is between Christmas and New Years. Since then a used Woods BH has come up on Craigslist. Wondering if I should cancel the order and just go get the Woods??

I was going to buy a Liberty or Titan but when I called around there were none in stock and would have to order so I was hesitant for the same reasons posted. I also wanted to see one up close first to look at the quality but no one around me had one. After 2 years I found a used Woods BH750-3 with a sub frame and PTO pump on CL. The used Woods I got was the same price as a new Liberty (or other Chinese BH) but I figured I can easily get replacement parts if needed.

I just got off the phone with Liberty Backhoes, after attempting to speak with Alex, the manager. Apparently he "slipped out" and was unavailable, after I spent several minutes on hold. I have experienced EXACTLY what you described; only the dates are different. I sent them a check for almost $5K in August of 2015, for a November delivery, which slipped to December 18th. Called at least every couple of weeks thereafter and was told it would ship the following week, it shipped last week, it is on a carrier, blah blah blah. Contacted the carrier (Road Runner) and asked when the item would be delivered to me. They had no record of any shipment destined for my Name or address. I forwarded that E-Mail to Alex, and said I was over the inaccurate information, misrepresentations, and outright lies, and that I wanted a resolution by the end of the week, or I would contact the appropriate agencies in his state, my state, and the US Postal Inspector General.

I received a terse response that the order was cancelled, and that I should contact him directly for any further information. No responses to multiple e-mails, and no ability to get him on the phone. Because I sent a check, I cannot dispute the charge on a card. Pretty sure I got "took."

I will be contacting an attorney, and filing complaints, but I feel pretty stupid for sending a check, in good faith, rather than using a credit card.

I agree with you: STAY AWAY FROM LIBERTY BACKHOES!

My backhoe was supposed to have been delivered 12/31/15 and has not arrived yet. Not expecting it since I contacted my bank and disputed the $4,273 charge. The bank has been very cooperative working for me on crediting interest and the charge based on non delivery. The Phoenix BBB has 14 complaints lodged against this company. Alex did not respond to any of them. I filed a complaint with the Arizona Attorney General's office. Believe this to be a fraudulent operation. Think that everyone that has similar experience file a complaint with the AG office online. Maybe this guy will be stopped and put away, or at lease you may get some of your money back.

I bought a Liberty backhoe last year. From reviews on here I knew that their shipping date would probably not be accurate. It took about 5 weeks longer than first quoted. But I have to say it was worth the wait. I have dug a French drain and 2 water lines. It is a well built product. I called every couple of days and stayed after them. All in all, very happy with it.

It is now 26 May, 2016. An agreement with Envy Liberty Holdings to refund my payment in 4 equal installments, beginning on 20 May, has not been honored, as of this date. The e-mail received from Envy Liberty Holdings' general counsel was like nothing I have ever seen before, suggesting that I was vindictive in threatening to sue them for nonperformance, and that I had been "difficult." The e-mail went on to say that they needed to continue to generate income to pay back the people whose orders were lost, and that a lawsuit would result in nobody getting their money back. FACT: they took nearly $5,000 from me and then failed to deliver my product. Their excuse is a server failure, followed by a failure with their back-ups. I believe my e-mail chain suggests otherwise, but that is neither here nor there... Fact is, they took my money, failed to deliver my BackHoe, while continually lying about delivery dates and shipment, and now have failed to return my payment, as they agreed to do, in an e-mail to my attorney. They also refuse to talk to me at all, because I retained an attorney.

There is a lot I don't know, but I believe I know fraud when I see it.

Liberty Backhoes - my advice is to stay away from them. While I believe the backhoe to be of good quality the business is operating in a fraudulent manner. After several months of no product delivery and missed shipping dates I canceled my order and filed a complaint with my credit card company. I also reported Liberty Backhoes to the Arizona Attorney General. Currently the Phoenix BBB has 16 complaints filed with them against Liberty Backhoe. None of the sixteen complaints have been answered. BBB lists them with an F rating. 9 of the 16 complaints are about delivery of the product. I kept searching craigs list and found a used Jinma 6 ft backhoe for less than half the price of a new one. This is my first rodeo with a BH - but it seems powerful enough although slow. I would recommend a TLB for commercial use.
