Most of my work is done on some steep hills with some hidden holes and such, I find my self on situations that requires a lot of diff lock work and I've been getting away with it but I want to have another place in case the diff lock doesn't make it.

So I decided to build a hydraulic winch for my Branson F36Rn tractor since I had most of the stuff anyway. Just need to buy the cable and the hook.

Ended up being a 6000 lbs winch with a weight of 130 lbs that will work nice with the 224 lbs weights that came with the tractor. It was still a bit light with the brush hog on. I won't use this as a logging winch. This is purely for get tractor out of a stuck situation. It has about 160 feet of steel rope and free spool option with a brake so it doesn't unwind like crazy. The drum is supported by 2 bearing on each side.

I also made a bumper so it pushes the brush away from the hood of the tractor preventing from scratching the paint which also made the perfect spot for a couple of small LED light bars.
Everything works awesome, I'm really happy with it.

Power Trac offers two Hydraulic winch models suitable for low GPM output for those without a nice base unit to begin a build. Prices range from $900 to $1300. The power trac mounting plate is unique to their system but easily modified to a front or rear application. CAUTION: most sub-100 hp tractors do Not enjoy a full frame chassis, so care must be taken to not overload the pull on front bumper or you may end up with a TWO piece tractor. As I recall, winch rating is in the ton to ton and one-half rating. There is little comparison between a DC motor winch and hydraulic power, when performance is evaluated.

I wanted something compact that would fit nice on the front of the tractor.

I only build this front winch because the tractor comes with a middle ROPS installed, therefore there is a 4" by 1/2" flat bar all the way from the front weights to the gearbox. This tractor is really well built with really heavy duty castings. I think it spreads all the forces trough the whole tractor instead of just the engine block which is not desirable.

I had take a look on buying the winch instead of making it, but it is a lot of money. Even for the electric ones and since I had most of the stuff, I just decide make it. That Power Trac unit looks really neat also.

Vey nice, quite compact, very efficient & professional. Of course, you know - now that you have that nice winch, you will probably never get stuck and need it - ha,ha.

The additional reinforcement you NOW describe was omitted from original post. I am NOT an engineer. My comment was a FYI to others seeking to duplicate your build.
