I bought my T5C new, for had been renting one for years and rent costs are high. Use machine to support sewer and water lines for new home construction and also to repair damaged lines. The T5C is easy to transport with a trailer, plus the trailer can carry tools to support. Are issues, the cylinders do leak over time, but these are easy to repair. Best if the T5C was diesel, for everything I have is diesel. Best benefit is its small size and minor damage to lawns. Skid steers really damage existing lawns and big machines are hard to move around houses and transport.

Pros: Easy to move and operate, holds value and easy to sell.
Cons: Needs better cylinders and diesel engine, parts take too long to get.

Terramite T5C: A Great All-Around Machine

After using the Terramite T5C for 9 years, I have found it to be a great multi-use machine. I built forks for the loader bucket and I use this little machine for just about everything around my 13 acres from road repair to digging hundreds of feet of water line ditch. I even leveled a small lot to build my cabin. This took a lot of time, as this machine is quite small. I dug all of the footers for the cabin and hauled a lot of building materials with the forks. I use it for hauling firewood to the cabin, and for moving heavy things around the property. I couldn't get along without it. I have been thinking lately about selling it and moving up to the T7 Terramite. I would like a little bigger machine but not a full size one. Plus I would like a diesel engine.

Pros: Very strong for its size.
Cons: Too light for very hard rocky soil.

This is a good old fashioned American made product. To compare it to a Kubota really isn't appropriate. This is a piece of construction equipment and the builders assume that you know something. The Kubota is a landscape management tool superbly designed for those who should not own equipment. In the hands of an experienced operator, the Terramite will do some amazing things. It is super easy to work on. It is a good choice for remote locations where there is no access to dealer support. Try getting your computerized tier-5 diesel problem corrected in the bush---good luck.

Pros: Simple, rugged, powerful.
Cons: 4-wheel drive would be nice.

I bought used. It was previously a rental. I found it to be a truly rugged piece of American made equipment. The 20 horsepower Koehler provided enough power to move close to 2,000 yards of clay from a basement foundation. It was close to 6,000 trips out of the foundation over two weeks. It did wear the rear end out a couple of years later.

Pros: 1500 pound front bucket capacity, 8 foot rear digging depth
Cons: Slow, could use more speed, new model comes with diesel option

Very Poor Experience

I rented one for the day. It worked about an hour prior to failure of the main boom cylinder. The rental company brought me another one and after about an hour that one had the same problem as the first one. I just returned the machine and the rental company advised me that they have had nothing but problems with the Terramites since they bought 3 of them nearly a year ago. They said that older ones were much better that they owned previously, but the newer ones are nothing but problems.

Pros: Small and easy to use
Cons: Completely unreliable
