Engine Runs Excellent - Mower Deck - Not!
Model Year: 2005
To be fair, I probably should not have purchased any CC 1000 series for my 3-4 acre lawn. I have a bit uneven lawn with many trees and it is part of a small horse farm (I have a tractor and finishing mower for that) and I have used the Cub to trim a swath next to fences, where damaged has occurred. Specifically, I have the LT 1042 pre-2007 (some changes affect the mower deck/ parts/etc). The Great part: Engine starts up every time, runs great, uses a lot of gas. I have seen reviewed before. Tires seem to work fine, you can spin the tires easily on inclines, and they do tear up the lawn immediately when you spin. The mower deck has literally fallen apart in a relatively short time. Rock hits have put holes in the deck, the safety chute ripped off, belts have been chewed up, etc. Easy disconnect, but I have had to toss the pulley covers for easier access to the belt path Small lawn - buy these with no hesitation, rural lawns, go bigger and more sturdy.
Pros: Kohler engine a dream, good turning radius, easy parts availability, good 800 number and website.
Cons: Mower deck substandard.
