Hay Farmer
Model Year: 1970
I had an 885 when a teenager. These are good easy to repair tractors that just keep working. This unit hadn't been maintained, 3 gallons of water in the transmission, gunk in the bottom of the fuel filter assembly, bushing and bearing out on the PTO shaft inside housing and 3 point not working. Changed transmission oil, replaced fuel filters and had machine shop bore stock bushing for PTO shaft which fixed 3 point issue. For a total of $300, everything now works. Tractor is very fuel efficient with lots of pulling power due to the gear reduction on rear axle.
Pros: Good 3 point, easy service, 12 speed transmission, fuel efficient.
Cons: Many bolts and bearings are metric, a bit light on front axle.
