1951 John Deere "MT"
Model Year: 1951
Dad purchased this tractor when I was very young. It needed work, and after several years, we finally assembled & restored it. At that time, I took it to the thresheree, put it on the dyno, and developed its rated power (18HP.) Because it was purchased by my father, and we worked on it together, it has much more sentimental value than could ever be paid monetarily. I used it two seasons for mowing a two-acre field, but otherwise, it has primarily been used for tractor rides. It is simple but functional, perfect for the gearhead who lives in town.
Pros: Compact, nimble, easy to drive, & lotsa torque; fits in our garage, & many parts still available
Cons: Does not have live PTO.
