Mahindra 4010 HST
Model Year: 2013
Features and performance of tractor is excellent especially for the price. We have a lot of steep hills so the overall width is a bit of a concern in terms of stability. Also the loader hydraulics are exceptionally strong for the size of the tractor. therefore you have to pay close attention to stability. Especially in uneven terrain. I don't go anywhere without a proper weight on the 3-pt. Power-wise the tractor outperforms its size. I'm running a woods 6-ft. rotary brush mower through 3-4 ft. heavy grass and 2-3 inch multiple sumach trees, traveling up hill, and tractor doesn't even drop 200 rpm in the worst of it. Reliability is the only question after 100 hrs. Small things like glow-plug switch failing, temp gauge failing. Maybe break-in whatever. But that said the dealer has already swapped out the hydro stat unit after I notice some oil weeping where engine connects to unit. Dealer, which I have to say is awesome and really in the end is the most important aspect of any brand, picked up tractor to have a look. They determined that there was a more serious issue and dropped of a demo unit to use while being fixed for 3-4 weeks. So from a personal use issue, I wasn't affected thanks to dealer. That said, if there are more issues over the next 4 years of warranty I would sell it and change brands. If the 100 hr. kinks are at an end I can see more Mahindra's in our future as I need a 2nd larger tractor at the moment. Price vs. features vs. performance they are excellent value. But in the end reliability is the most that matters. So I'll keep you posted.
Pros: Heavy built, strong performance.
Cons: Questionable reliability to date.
