Gray Market Yanmar 2210D
Model Year: 1977
I was looking for a 20-30 HP 4x4 with a FEL (isn't everybody?). Settled on this Yanmar based on price and it's condition. It starts every time, even below freezing using the thermostat (once I learned the technique). The only limitation I have had is how much weight I can lift with the FEL. No problem using it as a loader, just trying to use it to lift heavy obects, pull fenceposts, etc. Another note - this tractor is LOUD - hearing protection is a must. Comparing mine against a friend's brand new Kubota BX25, I noticed his is quieter, smoother, easier to handle (hydrostatic), but it cost more than 3X , and the Yanmar easily outworks it. My friend actually traded up for a bigger model (B2630?) after about a year. So if you don't mind an old-school, reliable, loud tractor that drives like a tractor, not a car, don't be afraid of an old Yanmar. A note on gray market - no local dealer seemed to want to deal with getting parts for it since it's not a US model, but I do my own work and it's super simple. I use online sites like Hoye and Yanmar Parts Online, with no problems so far.
Pros: Cheap, powerful, reliable, simple.
Cons: LOUD, grey market.
