Need some info on JD Cab Radio ideas....

Hi Dave

Looking at doing the same thing with the radio in my cab. (used the Adaptor Plug to adapt from Deere Harness to Kenwood). Where did you get the adaptor plug? Was it included in the radio purchase or did it come with the JD factory wiring kit?

How did I miss this post for so long??? Two of my favorite's, stereos and tractors!!!

If I had a cab, which I don't.....yet..... I would get whatever quality name brand (pioneer, alpine, kenwood, sony....etc) was a good deal, had USB in, AUX in, or even and iPod control system like Alpine's iPod full speed (although farting around with your iPod is probably the last thing you should be doing while running your machine). A lot of them now have dedicated SAT radio ins too. You can get pretty good speakers, pretty cheap. Often in the clearance bin (not returns, just blow-out deals).

DO NOT bother with a bluetooth thingy to connect your phones, the person you're calling won't be able to hear you over the engine.

My only advice is anyone is looking to SAT would be to go with SIRIUS over XM if there are any concerns over reception. SIRIUS runs 3 satellites, XM runs 2. I'm in the Rocky Mountain part of western Alberta and have lost signal only once tucked way back in the mountains sledding. Buildings and shelters still do it, but you'll have better reception under trees, etc with SIRIUS.

I'd say false to that statement....just this past Sat. AM my BIL called me while I was spreading 45 yards of Loam and he couldnt even tell what I was doing...

Him: So What you doin...

Amen Brother. I take calls all the time in my cab. Even with the AC on level 2. Once somone asked me where I was driving to. I think that was cause they heard the radio. or the tiller hit a rock

OK, I stand corrected. Were those calls with BT earpieces, or with BT mic's that attach through your stereos???

My wife and I used to have signals for different events. She would turn the lights on one side of the house to tell me to come in. Turn them on on the other side to tell me I should think about getting ready to go out, or friends were coming soon. I must be lucky, cause now she can call me anytime and let me know how the kids are and whats going on... I enjoy being able to talk with the pto at 540 and tearing up weeds.

Yeah, i was cutting some grass and I was talking to my brother while he was using BT while driving and he could not tell I was in the tractor until I had to get out. He heard it when i opened the door.
