I've had terrible luck with lawn mowers over the years. seems like every one i would buy, it would last one cutting season, then break, and that same part would break over, and over, and over, and over. i could never get another FULL cutting season out of it. i grew tired of the Murry's and Snapper's i had bought in the past, i was in the market for a lawn mower that would LAST me longer thena year or so....5 at LEAST! i decided to go with JD and the new Z turns they had out. never owned a z turn before and ever since i'v owned it i wonder why i didnt buy one sooner. i paid $2,800(Zecting this mower to last me my and its been doing it for the past 3 y22g with it....not one. it's been doing what the others couldnt do,to mention it does it faster and better. i'm not expears. not lifetime, since it is a residential mower afterall, but in the future i am going to save my $$$ and go get me a commercial JD or an Exmark. just been impressed with everything so far and
5* i will NEVER, and i mean NEVER own any lawn equipment from walmart, HD, Lowes, or anywhere like that ever again in my life.
5*Same here the Wards MTD taught me that lesson.

That was a great story!

As far as "A"s are concerne Nebraska, circa

11*1959 when I was 9, a city kid.

For some reason, my un me drive it around the yard a little, set infun tho:)

I got introduced to "A"s again in 2001 when a friend at work wanted to sell his fully restoturn of the flywheel. He did all the work himself except for the machine shop work on the motor. It had the of nice photos and did a real detailed write-up. I tried YT-Mag first, he had some interest but no takers. Then on ebay, the bidding went up to $4500. He decided to selle the year his dad was born. The guy drove a trailer all the way here to CO and loaded it up. My friend still gave me the $500 even tho it was a little short of his expectations. :D
I was 19 in 1959.
I also graduated from high school that year .

We're using an eXmark Lazer Z with a 72" deck and a diesel motor. It is one very nice cutting machine. We also have a 19-year old Kubota G1800. The Kubota is used almost every day for feeding chores, running the manure spreader, moving hay from one barn to another, etc., etc. If the eXmark is down for repairs or parts, the G1800 can still mow too. :D

Still John Deere"?

As far as the where its made debate....seriously speaking how much of ANY product its truly American made these days? The only thing that comes to mind would be my SnapOn Sockets and stuff like that. Everything from your favorite Cordless drill to your fuel transfer pump is made overseas somewhere..
*.so dont single out JD for it....
*But on the otherhand don't think or say Just because It's JD it's all American.

* But by the same token you can't truthfully say it's made in the USA simply because the label on the tractor says John Deere.

1*There has only ever been 2 new tractors on my farm.
2*One was the JD M my granddad replaced a team of horses with back in 1950.
1* I don't have a farm but here are the new tractors I've bought for my 2.33 acres.
1=1966 Bolens 850 still here and running.
2=1995 MTD PowerKraft lemon got rid of it 2 or 3 years ago. Don't miss it a bit.
3=2004 Kubota BX23 Still going strong
4=New Cub Cadet GT 2554 purchased in 2006. Up for grabs.
5=Purchased a new Kubota BX1500 Nov.2007.
Also have a couple of used tractors in the stable as follows.
6~1967 Bolens 850 / Available
7~2003 Kybota BX1500 a real keeper.

2*Back on 11/29/1950 I turned to the ripe old age of 19.
During that same month we got the biggest snow fall I've ever seen; 36 inches.
The next largest one was 17 inches on 1/17/1994.
