New JD 3320 in route

Congratulations on the new tractor. I know how you feel waiting to get in the operator's seat.

I purchased a JD 3320 w/CX300 FEL this year and am very pleased with the tractor. Mine has turf tires and I have not reversed the wheels as I like the narrow setting for mowing and getting in close quarters, however, I am cautious using the loader on much of a slope as I feel the tractor is not that stable and could tip over. I have a counter weight but no fluid in the tires.

I have not yet learned to synchronize the hydro foot pedal with the speed of the tractor when shutting off the cruise control. Usually experience an abrupt change in speed when going back to the foot control in preparation for stopping the tractor, especially in C range. I have the rollout setting at mid-range.

I agree with others that this tractor is easy on fuel. Although I have not made any exact fuel measurements, I feel it is as economical to mow with the 3320 and 6 ft. rear finish mower as it is to mow with my JD 175 riding lawn mower.

Thanks for all the comments. the posted Fuel economy seems fine to me as my little (soon to be departed) CK20 did only slightly better.

I own 12 acres of woods at my camp so the fel gets lots of use moving wood. I maintain atv trails for the kids and grand kids. Keep the wife happy with her assotment of projects and of course blow lots of snow in the winter. The new 3320 will get plenty of use.

It's funny how the better half opposed the first tractor purchase but once we had it she had more uses for it than I thought of and now buying the replacement was a breeze. No questioning the logic of the buy what so ever!

I would like to hear from JD 3320 owners as to the positives and/or negatives with their 3320 experience.

You'll love it for 12 wooded acres. Not too big not too small to be poking around with enough HP to get whatever done within a reasonable amount of time. I use mine way more then I thought I would; started and finished projects I wouldn't even have considered pre-tractor. I like the look and feel, picked it over others a lot because of the ergonomics.

Downside - one's kind of dumb and the other's been batted around a ton in other threads. Dumb - seatbelt is a nuisance to grab because it falls under the seat between the fender. I always strap in (well, almost always) and almost alway curse the way it's situated.

Second is that the hydraulic mixing on the loader and backhoe ain't that great. It doesn't bother me the way it is, but I do wish is was smoother.

Anyway, never once have I considered something bigger, smaller or otherwise. Suits me just perfect.

The only suggestion I would make is to check that all your hydraulic hoses do not rub on moving parts.

We had to tie back the power steering hose from the front pto shaft & the loader hoses from the front wheel when at max right turn angle.

Overall we are very satisfied with our's and the local dealership is excellent.

We had to tie back the power steering hose from the front pto shaft & the loader hoses from the front wheel when at max right turn angle.

Overall we are very satisfied with our's and the local dealership is excellent.

That is actually a very good suggestion as some members have posted concerns and experiences on that topic.

I used the rotary cutter (MX5) last night for a little over 3 hours. Before i started I filled the tank to the absolut top. After I was done, I put in 6.3 gallons from the starage tank. That is right in line with the rest as I now have 20.? hours on the tractor and I have put more than 44 gallons through it.

With that said, after it got dark, I could see a blue haze once and a while in the headlights. I thought it was dust, but it was not thick. I am wondering if it is diesel. My plastic and loader by the exhaust is black black black in a pretty large area. Maybe this tractor has a problem... BUT, my other 3720 was exactly the same way.

Might the 3720 burn more fuel to achive the HP ratings. It is the only 3x20 model to have an intercooler, so I would assume they pour the fuel to it to get the HP.

I would also say that just mowing the lawn or blowing snow, it might be using less fuel since you are probably not working the tractor as hard as tilling or cutting 3 foot grass or alfalfa.

I'd have to agree with NMU98. My 3720 cab uses a little more than a gallon an hour while the engine is at PTO speed and the air on. I try to run it at the lowest rpms, but when mowing I think you need more rpms for a clean cut. NMU98's unit may not be broken in yet. Thus the higher fuel consumption.

Wow. I have almost 200 hours on my 3320 and average .6 gallons per hour. You are using over three times the fuel I am! Is your tractor broken, or is mine ;-).

I just got this 3720 about a month ago. So is it broke... dunno... But the power is great.... It came in over rated PTO HP on the PTO dyno at the dealer. The dealer said they don't see it too often. Might that have something to do with the consumption? Might just the 3720 models use more due to the programing? Might it be the Michigan air..LOL.. Dunno.... But I even posted about it when I had the open station. I never expected the Cab model to be better, and it is not.

My 07 open station was about the same with fuel, maybe just a touch better, but it should be, it did not have A/C

My tractors are used anout 50% for rotary cutting, 30% tilling with a 672 tiller, and 20% loader work.

My 5203 does about 30% rotary cutting, and the rest is ground engaging equipment that pushes it to its limit. The 5203 can easily spend a day in the field and come in for 5-6 gallons of fuel. The 3720 will be empty.

I am not ragging on the tractor... I sold my open station for a cab model. I like the tractor, the power, and the size.
