hypothetically speaking here...;) in general...220 genset with about 20' of 10-2 wire with a pug on one end, and then the other end, the wire is spread into a 'y' about 3-5' apart with insulation stripped off the last 6" of the y end. lay the line out inthe water.. throw some chum in the middle of the y... be out of the water!!! as fish take the chum in the 'y'.. hit the power to the plug.. fish float to the top.

I used to volunteer time with the GFC in FLA. The name has changed now. The fishery biologist would do surveys to see the species, numbers, and sizes of fish in a given body of water. There are three ways they get the fish, poison, explosives, and electro fishing. :D The first two methods gets the most fish. :D

I worked with some biologists for awhile and eventually I worked all three methods.

Electro fishing was done in a metal Jon boat,, with a generator sitting in the middle. Two poles went off the front of the boat about six feet and seperated by about 4 feet. From each pole there was a power lead in the water. One guy, in this case, me, would stand near the bow with a net while the boat putt putted around. The fish would be "attracted" to one of the of leads. I think it was the positive one. The power would kinda mess up there ability to swim and they popped to the surface and sort moved to the lead. :D Real easy to get them in the net.

The then went into a live well until we had enough fish to take out, identify, count, and measure. If they fish were native they were put back into the water. Non native fish fed the birds. BTW walking cat fish are one of the toughist critters I have ever seen.

Electro fishing is not as acurate survey wise as the other two methods but the fish generally live.

The other two methods require the biologists to go to the survey area over a three day period to do the count. It takes that long for dead fish to all float to the surface. The survey area is netted off so the fish cant escape prior to the boom or poison. The net keeps the dead fish in except for whatever might get eaten by birds or gators.

Its a bit disquieting when just before you jump off the airboat into water that is up to your chest and full of dead fish, the biologist tells you, seriously, that there might be gators in the netted area. If you step on one at the bottom it will move......:D

After counting, identifying and measuring fish that have been dead for three days Sushi and tuna sandwiches are not something one wants to eat.:D:D:D:D

But it could just be me. :D:D

And your alternative is?????

There are various ways to set prices. One is a multiple of cost, either parts or parts, labor, and packaging etc etc.

Another is cost plus profit.

Another is perceived value. An item that costs 50 cents or a dollar to make but which saves you a hundred bucks will likely be priced up at the $50 level unless it is so tremendously trivial as to be ludicrous.

What are your viable alternatives when you have a need to be filled but the products that are available to fill that need are "overpriced?" Do you build your own? Can you build your own? Can you build it for less than buying?

I am lactose intolerant. (That's right I will not tolerate lactose, I just will not put up with it, not even for a little while just to seem like a nice guy!) Lactase enzyme is available, packaged in liquid form and or in caplets and such to make lactose digestible. I am not a stranger to manufacturing or manufacturing of certain pharmaceuticals. Over $10 for 15 mililiters in liquid form is preposterous... but what are the alternatives, get a temperature controlled vat and set up to do my own? Not cost effective. Buy caplets, grind them up and dissolve them in water? Not a good thing as you need a far more controlled "environment" than tap or even distilled water.

Some generic drugs are priced way high versus the cost of manufacture.. do you make your own?

Sometimes when you have a need to satisfy, you have to bite the bullet and pay the price. It rankles me too when I know the outrageous disparity between cost and price but... I can't make everything myself. I used to make my own tube type preamps (Fisher kit), power amps, O'scopes and on and on but in reality would have been further ahead to get a part time job flipping burgers and take the cash to the store and buy the gear I wanted.

I know the answer to your questions I can say it in two words

That is just absolutely amazing. He was arrested for attempted murder (may be wrong on the charge but this sounds good), released due to lack of weapon, and not is listed as non-compliant. The last time he registered was Feb? they had him and let him go. Sound like the govt to me.
