Old Topic But New Info: SUDT or UDT?

Kind of sounds like a smart move to me. Why produce two UTF fluids, one lower spec and one higher spec. As many members here on TBN have mentioned over the years they have noticed less chatter and better performance with SUDT or other high quality UTF oil. From a manufacturers point of view it's better for business. If all of their equipment will now come with SUDT then any complaints they might have had in the past due to lubricant related problems will now go away.

Another thing to consider is tolerances and loads. Just as in the automotive and trucking industry manufacturing procedures have resulted in much tighter tolerances in components which require higher quality lubricants. In addition to tolerances loads have increased over the years. Today's turbo powered diesel engines produce much more power than their predecesors did which place more of a load on the lubricant.

As far as locating mass market multi viscosity UTF oils they are only a phone call away. Lubricants can be ordered online and over the phone very easily these day's and delivered to your door.

Difficulty finding a mass market multi-vis trans/hydro fluid.
It's not difficult at all. The same poster who complained about 'locking the customer in (aka profits)' (as if profits is a dirty word) mentioned one (aka Amsoil).

What are the advantages of using SUDT over UDT. If you change from UDT to SUDT is there any noticeable performance gains? I really can't see there being that big of a difference other than price.

The same advantages of using any synthetic lubricant.

If you consider better low temperature flow characteristics (or any other synthetic lubricant advantage) a 'performance gain' then the answer is yes.

I really can't see there being that big of a difference other than price.
In your situation, that's true. For others, there is a big difference.

No. I have used both and notice zero about -10F. But this will help dealers (theirs) since most do not say to use SUDT.

What's forcing you to buy Kubota fluid?
Because most dealers play scare tastics on you using it. That is what is forcing many.

True but synthetics are not always king either.

Synthetics are better than dino. That's not the issue. The issue are they cost effective. For some they are, for some they are not.

BTW, when you make a mistake in a post, you can edit it. No need to post twice.
