Diesel Fuel Additives

Not good in what way? What was the problem?

Run it and look on your UOA; then run without it and pull a UOA. Talk about high wear #s. My guru is my UOA house and not anyone on here.

What? So now when someone signs up and something happens to another member they are the same. Maybe I can be president when he leaves too....:D:D;)

Only reason I see to use an additive (and a tiny bit of that white stuff pointed out above will do it) is in the winter, to keep the fuel from gelling. About 1/3 tank of kerosene would be a cheaper way to lower the pour point.

I have 5 quarts of this white stuff on hand or enough to treat five 55 gallon drums of fuel.

Thanks for the replies guys. I did not want to start an argument.

I don't know much about diesels so I am asking questions. I was concerned that the ULSD would be bad for an older engine or the injector pump.

The temp is not too big of deal as during the winter the tractor lives in a heated garage to clear snow from my driveway. Otherwise, it stays in a barn the other 9 months a year.

I need to keep educating myself.

I am not an expert, but doesn't kerosene make your diesel engine run hotter? Jay

PS: My diesel supplier has added quite a bir of kerosene to his tank "mix". Since then my engine seems to run hotter.

I've a 25 year old diesel and don't use any additive. No leaks; no drips; no errors.

The problem is, the fuel formulation you ran it on all that time, with no trouble, no longer exists.
