Here we go again...

How did I know that Builder would be here quickly to put the Duracrap on a pedestal and put down every other manufacturer. Give me a break already, it's all about personal preference and they all have their problems.

I said before, from this exact issue not too long ago that I refuse to talk to Builder because of his attitude towards Dodge. One site with several guys that have problems with the 6.7 and builder makes it out to be the worse thing to ever happen, and anyone that owns a Dodge doesn't have a right to life.., There are hundreds of the 6.7 DPF's all around me, me included, that have no problems,, Just flat say you hate Dodge and get it done with. THere are many GM products (class 2-5 trucks) that have multiple problems too,,, I guess I am suppose to overlook this though..

Those are a couple good looking trucks. What brand and size tires are on that Dodge?

Chris

Thanks Chris - I just can't make myself get rid of the Ford - when my 18 yo got his license, that was what he drove. Forced him to be careful and kept plenty of metal around him - I WAS worried about others on the road though :D. But 2.5 years and no problems. My 2nd boy is about ready to get his license, so i may do the same thing.

The Tires: Mickey Thompson Baja Claw Radials (33x12.50x17) - a bit noisy, but great traction. I went to replace them last year, and the tire shop ordered the wrong ones - Baja MTX - not a deep lug, but went ahead and kept them - they're not bad, but I'll probably go back to the Claw next time around.

You don't hear a lot from the Cummins/Dodge owners because their trucks are working and that is all there is to say.

2001, Quad Cab, 4x4, 6-Speed, 142,000 miles.

Smart. I cringe when I see teens in sub-compact cars. Not much room for error in those.

I personally really don't have any brand loyalty when it comes to light trucks. I would be proud to have a nice Cummins 5.9 dodge sitting in my garage, right next to my duramax. I like Fords too, and I would also be proud to own a ford diesel, even the 6.0 that I have criticised a few times on here, because it can be modified very slightly[head studs] to hold up to whatever you can reasonably throw at it. That being said, I think it is important to try to refrain from having this thread take a negative turn, and just keep it about the trucks. As far as the new diesels, IMO, I don't care for the emissions due to my personal longeivity and mileage concerns, therfore, I probably will not buy one, but please understand that I am not criticising anyone who buys one, because their needs may be entirely different from mine, They may need 350hp every day to tow their business trailer, and could really care less about mileage or emissions issues, because they get a new one every 5 or so years. Many times, I think spirited conversations on the computer are misconstrued as attacks [I myself have been recently guilty of this] due to the fact that you cannot put a tone of voice or facial expression with the statement, or immediatly respond to the statement with a direct line of questioning. Alot of times, you just have to take your best guess as to whether it was just casual ribbing or an attack.

Mine are a 92' W250 with 168,000 and a 06' 3500 w/ 24,000. I also have a 01' Excursion with the 7.3, the only engine I would own in a ford. Never have driven a duramax, can't really compare there but I'd give them a try if the opportunity presented itself.
