New trailer HELP!****Bummer!

I put one of these on each back outside corner of my trailer-Harbor Freight Tools - Quality Tools at the Lowest Prices

That way I can load and unload without attaching to the truck, very handy. They swivel up or can be removed in a flash by yanking the pin.

I don't see how ramps could come UP.. I've seen a safety wire/strap/chain/whatever to keep a ramp end from scooting OFF a trailer but never saw the need to keep one from going UP. How is it ever going to go UP? The weight of whatever is being loaded holds it DOWN. Am I missing something here?

When you start to back your equipment off the trailer and the rear of the trailer starts dropping down the ramp could very easily come off. Or when loading out in a field on uneven or soft ground and your front wheel pops it off the bar when it first hits the ramp and it sinks or tips. My Anderson dump trailer's ramps are hooks like that over a bar and they came with a removeable opposing hook for a safety. A simple pin is welded to the lower hook and is held in place with a hairpin.

Hi All!

I have been following all of the posts and did infact cut a slit in the ramp to go over the stake pocket. That appears to will work ok when I get a chance to try it. I do like the idea of some safety latch and am pondering my options. I'd like to place this in the middle. to balance any uplift as there is a slot already there for the ramp locks. The 2305 has a fixed rear wheel. I believe it could be set wider, however the ramps , now put both tires ( by measure up the middle. Once I get it up, and more importantly off the trailer, I'll feel i've accomplished something JIM

I have been using a 60CH big tex trailer for almost 20 years and have these type of ramps. I load tractors , cars , trucks , miles , etc. and I have to say I have NEVER had any trouble with the ramps coming off the rear bar. I suppose It could happen, But I just have not experienced it.I also have a number of heavy equipment trailers, like belshe, and bruton, that have exactly the same type of attachment. These are for d-6 caterpillers. I haven't seen any way for the ramp to come UP when it has 35,000 lbs pressing down on it, which in turn presses down on the trailer rear ledge. I cut a notch in mine in order to load the riding mower from time to time. I think many on this thread don't realize just how low to the ground the rear of this trailer is. Upon loading I often only have 6 to 8 inches in height at the front of the ramp to the ground. If it could fall it really might not be that big of a deal . Again- I may have been fortunate but I have never had any trouble with big tex ramps.

How did you mount the trailer jacks to the back of your trailer? Need to do something like that to my trailer. Do you have any pictures?

If you notice in my signature, I have a 70ch. I have loaded all sorts of equipment on it and have regularly OVERLOADED it. I have loaded tractors that pushed the tail of the trailer all the way to the ground.
I have never had a ramp come off.
The trailer was not designed for tires as narrow as yours.
Get a bigger tractor.

Just kidding.

It should be a simple matter for a welder to put stake pockets closer together and remove the existing pockets so you can get your ramps close enough.

I'm not sure I completely understood some of the other suggestions but personally, I would measure, mark, and slit the part of the ramp that hangs over the bar, letting the ramp drop[ down into the stake pocket.
You aren't going to weaken them enough to hurt anything.

Just my opinion.

Did that and some of the other suggestions. Cut the slit for my Deere And then loaded a friends Kubota which was narrower, and it stayed on.

Don't have any pics but could snap some later if you need them. The jacks come with a short piece of about 2" pipe you weld to the area you'd like to mount them. I weld but not so good vertically and really bad upside down so I welded them to a piece of about 3"x3/8" flat bar and bolted that to the trailer

Got 2 with the swivel and mounted them about seven inches from the rear on each side. I did weld them to the side. I tested them and the trailer front don' t rise at all. will send pic when I get them painted.
