Took my son hunting for the first time

Toro, sounds like a great time! The thumbnails aren't opening up for me though.... Looks like he's got a big smile on!

My grandfather was a hunter, but my father wasn't. Grandpa got me a Daisy BBGun at age 6. He was an electrician and rigged up all sorts of motorized target ranges for me in his garage. He would make moving pinwheel things with flipping metal targets. He even made one that was like the duck shoot game at the carnavil.

I've still got that gun....33 years later. I'll treasure it and one day hope it hangs in my boys house.

My boys are turning four in January and I can tell they aren't close to ready. It's hard to wait.

Now I feel I have go buy that pink Daisy BB Gun for my 5 year old girl! ;)

Girls do not like pink boy toys... they want the real thing. Lionel tried it with trains back in the 50's. They had to buy them back and repainted them "normal" colors.

Tony,
He had a great time, he is a ham in front of the camera too. I used the image code from photobucket I think, should I be using something else so it can open?

I made a ghetto ghillie hood/drape today while the boys were playing out at the farm. At the very least it gives the boys something to play with, at best it will work as a hood to break up my outline while sitting in the tree. I will try to post pictures later tonight.

They haven't met my girls. ;)

Apparently a number of our members hunt from stands. The following was copied from today's Dallas Morning News:

That sounds to me like a terrible way to go, so I hope all of you build stands you won't fall from, but it might also be a good idea to be aware of what you're building it over.

I've lost two friends to deer hunting. They both were their 50's and died alone in the woods of heart attacks, one was sitting in his truck and the other up against a tree. Maybe if they had taken a cell phone or a child with them.....Be careful out there!

Paul Harvey mentioned on his show that Heart Attacks are the number one killers of hunters. He said that most die from dragging their deer out of the woods. But I'm sure over doing it and a sudden amount of physical activity could be enough too.

After selecting (checking the box) the photo and clicking the "Generate HTML and IMG code" box at the bottom of the page (on the right) then when the new window pops up, select the "IMG clickable thumbnails for message boards" code. Copy and paste that into your reply on TBN and it should come up as a clickable thumbnail.

Best accident records are kept by these clowns. Makes for interesting reading, but still with the number of hunters it is statistically unsignificant; much less than they would like us to believe.

The same is true for golfers and from what I see at the country club they don't do anything excertional.:D

And I may not be ready to go at age fifty, but dying while sitting under a tree in the woods sounds like an ideal way to go if you ask me.:D
