Hi, I'm new to this forum but have been on the hunt for a reasonably decent second hand small Kubota for my "steep" 2 acre block.

I am currently looking at a quite old but seemingly sound Kubota and I'm after some more information on what it may be before I make an offer. Most of the cowlings are missing and any plates are unreadable or missing as well however I know this much:

It's a Kubota, 3 cylinder, 4wd, 2 speed (hare/tortoise), 3 point linkage and front (mid) and rear facing PTO's, hydrostatic trans'.

Engine serial number is D750 - A 225571. I understand the D relates to the number of cylinders - being 3, and the 750 is possibly the CC but that's as much as I can find searching the web, other than that it also may possibly be 18hp. Does this all seem correct so far?

Another serial number under the seat on the cast body of the tractor is 2C KI 81X22 (however that may just be a casting number?)

At the moment I believe the seller is asking far too much ($4k AUD) but I don't yet know enough about it and it's real value to justify that, I reckon it would do the job that I need and I could possibly talk him down if I knew a bit more about it. It's here in Darwin (where I work) so I'd have to factor in the cost of shipping it to my home on the East Coast but they seem to be as scarce as hens teeth over there. I do have access to a Kubota mid mount mower deck that I could fit to it, however will have to make up the mounting brackets as they don't seem to exist, also I'd be fitting a decent ROPS prior to using it on my steep block.

The seller doesn't know much about it at all either so I am wondering if anyone has any idea what it might be, ie age, HP etc based on the serial number.

Now don't judge a book by its cover but here it is:

That seat was robbed off a chair from my '86 high school Spanish class, I swear!

G'day, Mate! - and welcome to TBN. You are right to think the seller's asking price is high. $4k AUD ($2.6k US) is about twice what something like this would bring here. I'm assuming from the pic its not 4 wheel drive.

It does look a lot like a B7100. If so it should be a 16 HP. tractor with about 12 or so at the PTO.:D

Comparison picture but this one has four wheel drive and HST.:)

Welcome to TBN. Look on the left side of the transmission housing above the foot plate. There should be some numbers/letters stamped in to it. Part of the sequence is the serial number. This applies to tractors sold in the US and may not apply to your tractor. Post any numbers you find and one of us might be able to tell you the year of manufacture.

Thanks for the responses guys, it was advertised as a 4wd with HST but now that I think of it I didn't pay much attention to the front end or the controls, I was more interested in trying to find some serial numbers to work out what it is.

Ther is serial number above the foot plte on the trans but on the right side, (under the seat) it is: 2C KI 81X22

cheers

It should be on the left side of the of the trans housing like texbaylea said. If you get that number for me I can tell you what year it is, if it is a B7100. I have the numbers right in front of me.

The numbers circled in red are the numbers to look for, the serial number follows the "B7100" in pic.

Thanks for this, the tractor is a few miles from me so I'm waiting for a chance to go back for another look, I hope to get out there this weekend coming and will see if I can get another photo as well.
cheers
