Best Home Defense Rifle?

I shot a bat once in my bedroom with a .22 loaded with Rat Shot , will that do ?

I also fired about 6 warning shots AT him before i got him .

Wow - 122 (now 123) posts in just a few days - and what great reading on a cold November morning.

Put me down in the "likes a handgun for personal defense" category - and make that a handgun that I can afford to buy some ammo and use on a regular basis. Not only does that make me more proficient, but it's just plain fun to go plinking - and the odds are a lot better that it will get used for recreation than for personal protection.

Here in Maine we can use force to protect ourselves or someone else from personal harm - and to protect our property from arson. That's not a direct quote, but is pretty close.

In such a situation, even if the District Attorney did not bring charges, it is likely that the dirtbag's family would bring civil charges - and who knows how that would turn out?

As for the bat in the room situation, I had one get into a sweet (not) apartment building I owned many years ago - and after taking several shots with a CO2 BB pistol, and missing, I got out a tennis racket and was able to whack it with a nice overhand serve motion.

Then I got out the spackle to fix the walls.

You probably would'nt . I can still see my wife laying in bed with one eye open and a finger in her ear trying not to wake up to much , watching me with no clothes on playing Rambo with a bat

Yikes.. you might want to consider living in a state that gives the victom rights.. like immunity from prosecution due to expanded castle doctrine. Florida law has that.. etc..

Would it not be better to move to a nice quiet state where your family is safe rather than move to one where you are allowed to kill an attacker ?
