Need Advice for Homemade FEL

I'm using those exact cylinders on my homemade FEL on a 109. The pump is also very close to the pump you were planning on using, ie same design just not that much volume. The one I'm using is about 4gpm, which is plenty. Mine is mounted under the fuel tank at the back of the engine and is driven via a pulley sandwiched between the engine and driveshaft.

I'm thinking of going to a 4 to 5 GPM pump and running it direct drive off of the engine via a lovejoy coupler. I originally wanted to be able to control the pump off of the electric engaged PTO, but the more I thought about it, I am going to have to engage the pump everytime I move the tractor to lift the bucket, so I might as well have the pump turn all the time.

Wrencher, what size hose did you run on your loader? The cylinders have 3/8" ports but I was thinking about using 1/4" hose. Also how much have you lifted with your FEL. How does the 109 handle with a heavy load on it?

Do you have any pictures? I would love to see it.

Just to butt in here, 1/4" hose will be more than adequate for your loader, and you can get 3/8" fittings crimped on the ends so you won't need any adapters.

Thanks kennyd, thats what if figured.

I got another question. I found out that the maintenance department at my work has a hydraulic hose crimper that they use to repair all of our equipment, I know some of the guys and they said they could crimp the hoses for me. My question is, will a hydraulic hose crimper crimp any brand of fitting and hose or does each brand have a different crimper. I will have to buy all of the fittings and hose myself, so will any brand work or do I have to buy the brand that they use at my work?

I'm running 1/4 inch hoses on my loader. Works great. I've lifted as 400 lbs. with mine so far. The tractor is definetly the limiting factor here, not the hydraulics. with that much weight the front tires were punished but didn't pop. As soon as I figure out how to add pics here I'll put 'em up. My tractor and loader sound just like what your attempting. You'll love yours too!!

Alright! That worked. Here's another pic after the wheel weights were added. The hay spear was brought to me by a local farmer to be repaired. The Cub loader made it easy to move around.

I say no, and so does a guy who makes a living at this...but others have their own opinions.
