I'm embarrassed to say that I've forgotten the exact details Kubota provides to install the BT1000 backhoe on a L39. When we moved to Maine I misplaced the manual. I'm sure I can get in installed, but wondering if anybody could hit me with the steps from the manual. Thanks.

Sorry can't help. In general, you get the back of the tractor close, then hook up the hydraulic lines and manipulate it onto the tractor with the hoe's hydraulic cylinders using the stabilizer legs and the boom / dipper stick.

I have the old fashioned extra-un-quick-attach hoe. Takes me the better part of an hour as the alignment has to be perfect as the hoses are short and the clearance is tight. Oh yeah, it weighs about 3000 pounds too boot. I use a roll around jack, floor jacks, 5' pry bar and a 5' steel rod to go with the sledge. Fun (not!)

Just thought I'd add that so when you are struggling for like 5 minutes before it slides into place you can understand how lucky you are!

A full day later and nobody?......I guess I'll fumble through it in the AM.

Fairly easy.

Remove all the three point hitch gear.

Depending on the frame mount you need to level the back hoe to the frame mount before you back over the backhoe frame and connect to the tractor frame.

Back tractor to the backhoe but stop short as you need to connect the ( depending on model) the PTO for the backhoe pump, and the hydro hoses, now you can back the rest of the way and put in the three pins that connect the backhoe to the frame mount.

Here are some WOODS manuals that might help - Good luck

Thanks Cat. I've installed it before and have more than the general process, was just hoping somebody with a L39 could be specific about the hydraulic levers and such and the timing. Pretty sure I slide them back once the hydraulic connections are made.

Here you go Jim

1 Close the dipperstick, curl the bucket and lower until the back of the bucket touches the ground.
2 Raise the rear wheels slightly with the boom and remove the mounting pins.
3 Slowly raise the boom to disengage the backhoe from the tractor.
4 Raise the backhoe with the stabilizers to disengage the mounting bars from the support hooks.
5 Move the tractor forward about 8"?
6 Lower the backhoe to a resting position on the ground.
7 Turn off the engine and disconnect the hydraulic lines.
8 Pull the directional valve levers out to activate the 3pt hitch hydraulics.

This is somewhat paraphrased from the L39 manual and covers the basic steps. I am sure it will come back to you as you get into it.

Just in time. Thanks so much for typing that out Mark. I'll figure the reverse to install. Much appreciated.

Jim I sent you a couple of PM's, is the machine still for sale or no?

Sorry that I am late to the party, but attached are the Kubota instructions.

I have found that it is easier to reattach the hoe if it is parked on a block (I use a section of railroad tie) rather that lowering it all the way to the ground. Doing this will give you a little more maneuvering room to jockey the tractor when you are reattaching.

Just an update on this post. I have an L39 with the BT1000 backhoe and the instructions are in front of your feet on the backhoe controls. It also makes it easier to install and uninstall the pins by using a dremel/air tool with either the round sanding fins or the wire brush attachment to clean out the holes where the pins are inserted. Then I put a little antisieze on the pin. The first couple times I removed the backhoe I had to use a pry bar and hammer to get the pins out. After dremeling the holes where the pins go it made it much easier. Some of the paint and rust makes little high spots that don't allow the pins to release. The other thing to do if the pins won't release is gently raise and lower the back of the tractor off the ground with the backhoe and watch the pins. You will see them slightly move when the pressure is released. My left pin comes right out when I lift the tractor off the ground, but the right pin needs the tractor just touching the ground for it to release easily.

Smooth_Pilot,

I just recently purchased an L39. Do you know where to find a digital copy of the service or owners manual?
Thanks for the help

2005 L39, Never had the hoe off. I couldn't imaging what it would be like without the 1,800 Lbs BH Counter weight. It would probably be like a normal tractor except the loader would try to kill you.

Nice to have other tractors available.

There are several videos on youtube, showing how it's done, in case the written word doesn't make sense, watch the video. It still takes me 10 minutes, but I have only removed my hoe once. it really is a 2 minute job.
