Has anyone named their machine?

Normally I don't name my equipment but the circumstances involved with getting my Kubota MX5000 are worthy of a name.

After looking for tractors for a long time my wife and I were driving down the road and she pointed out a Kubota dealership. At that moment a song called hells bells by AC-DC came on the radio. I bought the tractor. When the truck came that delivered the MX I was out in the garage with the radio playing making room for the tractor...yup, hells bells started playing. Three days later my wife wanted me to show her the tractor. I opened the garage door and climed up into the seat and Hells Bells started playing. My wife named the tractor on the spot.

I had an old International and a small Yanmar that I called Big Red and Little Red. But I sold my International and replaced it with a new Kubota and haven't named it yet. Big Orange just doesn't sound right. :p

My tractors don't have names, but I donated a '44 Ford 2N to the Cornerstone Therapeutic Riding Center where I volunteer, and the folks there decided to name it "Oliver", after "Oliver Wendell Douglas" on "Green Acres". I told 'em there was an old tractor brand called "Oliver", but that didn't dissuade them.

Personally, I think it's a "she".

On edit: come to think of it, the two modern tractors are generally called "El Tractor Grande" and "El Tractor Poco". I guess those count as names, if not very imaginative ones.

My old 8N with one broken headlight was named by the grandson. When I went to repair the headlight one day I was told that if I did he couldn't call it "One Eyed Willy" anymore. Needless to say it still has one broken headlight.

Got a good chuckle for understand the reason very well. Spending tonight with my 5 year old grandson.

No name for the tractor yet but the vehicles get named sooner or later...
Blue Yoshi, it could go anywhere.
Flying burrito, it was always falling apart.
Mother ship, too big.
Gumby, too green.
Cracker box, too fragile.
White lightning, shiny and white.
and then there is "that 70's boat", just plain old, actually from the 60s.

My boss has a Kubota L4330 that the employees affectionately named "Big Orange". Not very original, I know. So, for better or worse, when I got my L3400 last year, it took on the name "Little Orange" and so it stands!
