Is your radiator fan drawing air through the cab? If my memory serves me right is there not a plate somewhere underneath you can remove and then block the intake screen under the steering wheel?

(opps - I see New York Yankee fan covered this.)

Don

DON,and TOM,
Yes i have my air intake diverted.Like i said the cab is toasty warm. Its just when i sit side saddle on the seat the left control panel ,which is now directly in front of me is like having an air conditioner on,and my cab heater is blowing heat on my side and back.Igot my welding blanket under the seat and that blocks that hole good, its just around them plastic consoles with all the levers in them.

i take the cover off both side and i put a gray rubber tarp and i put it on the fender with small screw and under the cover i put some clear plastic tape and put on top to see my lever control and cut it in the middle and put some onder the seat and it cut the air a lot hpoe it will help you

SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD IDEA.Ican do something just like that

Check out Brush Seals. You could mount them under the fender on both side of the slots, and would not hinder lever movement.

Do a Google search also on the term "brush seal" for lots of different sizes and styles. McMaster-Carr has 3' pieces of flexible PVC backed stuff for about $40 that would work great.

+1 on what Kenny said! I was thinking about modifying something like the brushes that they use on shredders, but Kenny's plan is better..

I might be a little more sensitive to the smells but the dust comes in , After working in and around a garage the last 30 years smells like antifreeze, brake fluid, diesel, and even new tires seem to bother me after awhile, so it's most-likely just me with the smells. But we do have the same tractor. The radiator fan blows the air across the engine through the holes in the firewall and into the cab. When I removed the lower dash panel the fuel tank is exposed, there was all dirt and dust inside the panel that came through the firewall holes. There are holes all over where the control levers and pedals come through and all the seams on the floor are not sealed.

If you just use your tractor for snow or non dusty conditions you would not notice the dirt coming into the cab, But if you're out pulling the york rake in August when you're done that cab is dusty inside. The cab is not sealed. Don't get me wrong there is not snow or cold air coming through but it's not sealed for dusty conditions.

And if you spill any diesel fuel between the mouth of the tank and the metal hood cowl there is foam under there , the tank is in between the firewall and under the inside dash panel I think that is part of my problem with the engine smells. The fan slowly over time blows it into the cab. I make sure I don't spill a drop when I fill it. I bought my tractor with 90 hrs used and I think the previous owner spilled diesel on that foam more than once. I only notice the smells after running with the a/c or heat on for more then an hour or so. I wonder if anyone else ever had this problem.

I haven't noticed the smell you mention, but I did get a lot of dust when I used it in the summer, so I guess that it is getting in somewhere. When I was using it the other day, I noticed that the back window was open, so you have to watch for that. You can adjust the tension on all of the opening latches also, but there is nothing you can do about the pedal holes in the floor.

WaxMan There are allot of holes in my B3030 factory cab too said:
Sounds like you may have a problem. Are you sure you don't have a small fuel leak? I don't have any of these problems you guys are talking about in this thread with my B3030HSDCC. I bought it in April 2007 from Canns-Bilco in Alburtis, Pa. The reason I mention this is I've been really happy with them. When they got it in they called me & said that they would like to keep it a few days & give it a real thorough check over as this was only the second B3030 cab tractor they sold. They also installed 2 rear remotes for me at this time. The only issue I had was with the seat & that was replaced after I had the tractor a few months. The only places I can see through a little bit is around the brake pedals & at the control levers for the rear remotes. There is no vibration, very few rattles, & the heat & A/C work really well. Also, I used it last summer to put in a new lawn (york rake) at the new house & didn't have very much dust in the cab. I'm wondering if the dealers don't all do a thorough inspection of the equipment they sell? These are all still fairly new tractors & it seems to me that you shouldn't be seeing some of this stuff.

Thanks Earl Ohl for your response.
You may be right about a fuel leak, although I did check it over for that once before. What I said was wrong about spilling gas between the cowl and tank the spilled fuel will never get to the foam. I just looked in my parts manual and there is a drip catch that surrounds the mouth of the tank with a drain hose, so if fuel spills it catches in the tray and drains to the ground. Makes sense.
So that is not where the smells come from. Maybe I have some mold or something on the heater core or a/c evaporator I have to check it out further.

In any case I agree with you the b3030 cab is really nice and I don't have any complains everything works real well with no vibration or rattles. The dust amount that gets in the cab is dependent on use. Unless they changed something between the 2005 model year and the 2008 model, we have the same machine. From what I could find out the only difference was the seat and I upgraded mine.
Great tractor.

Last year I got a 1998 L5450 with a Laurin cab. Fitting to an open-station tractor, Laurin adds several little panels and weather strips to tighten it up. Warm air blows into the cab and out through the holes under the seat and at pedals and levers. It was toasty in there last night blowing snow at 10 degrees. The heater brings in outside air through a filter at the back edge of the roof, so fumes aren't a problem - except some I make myself.

Great tractor.

I forgot to add that you're not the only one who waxes your wheels, I do too. And I also Armor-All the tires too. :D
I also don't have the problem in the other post where you're getting cool air out of the vents when the heat is on so I don't think that's normal either.

In response to your drafts around controls, I have given some thought to this subject, I was going to fabricate some type of cover from the same material they use around overhead doors to seal out air leaks. It is mounted to a piece of aluminum and looks like the paint bristles of a hair brush. Chevrolet trucks use the same type of system around their 4-wheel drive floor mounted shift lever. You can buy this at www.mcmaster.com
