Toyota sales off more than GM or Ford

Correct, my point being...Someone in "Kentucky" fed their family with dollars earned by "assembling" my truck. Most all parts are made somewhere else. Even for the "Big 3".

JD Powers ratings are bought and sold just like most all other commodities in this world.

Any proof of this statement?

Someone in "Kentucky" fed their family with dollars earned by "assembling" my truck.

And somebody in Ontario fed their family by building your previous vehicle. So whats your point?

No arguments there, my point was made.

Sub-letting to low bid countries.

Are you implying that CANADA is a low bid country? most parts on a Big 3 vehicle are made in NA. Mostly Canada and US.

Still no proof on the JD power thing eh?

Don't need proof...I'm happy with my toyota,my 1971 Ford 2000 tractor, and my 1985 Ford (japanese) 1710.

A few automakers are doing somewhat better. Per an online article I was reading, Suburu was off 7.7% and VW 13.5%.

For the year, Subaru was the only automaker that was up. It was up about 3%. I love my Foresters.

Your the one that implied that JD Power was dishonest. Ive only known them to be a leader in customer satisfaction reporting. Before you go off slandering them you better have some evidence.

+1 for the Subaru. I ve had several Legacys and Loyals). All have been good. Hence my nick. :D

I believe assembled my Toyota would be more accurate.

Look at the parts origins. Mostly Japan, not the USA.

Mornin Builder...

Friends and neighbors work at the NUMMI plant building Corolla, Matrix, Pontiac Vibe and the Tacoma trucks.

Mom's only new car ever is a 2001 Corolla that we spent the day watching as it was assembled.

Much of the her Corolla is actually made in North America... NUMMI has it's own stamping plant and we watched as coils of steel, also from CA, were stamped into unitized body parts.

Most of the Corolla is American made... the Engine and Transmission are made in Japan.

It is amazing to see parts from all over American come together on the line... American made upholstery, instrument panels front and rear bumpers, Goodyear Tires, etc.

NUMMI is a godsend for the 5,000 local employees and it is a tribute that they are able to make it in the Bay Area while every other manufacturer has long ago left.

Really...how many advertise that they're dishonest???NONE...Think what you may...

I put no weight on the "Truck of the Year Award" or any other award. A new body style, trailer brake controller, locking diff, ect is enough to get that. Now if one manufacture won it 10-15 years strait then that makes a difference in my eyes but the back and forth is useless.

By the way my problems with GM were taken to district and corporate offices with no resolve. I had to get a lawyer involved. I hate lawyers more than bad trucks but I had no other course of action. On my first GM I lost 3 months of driving time in a 2 year period with a blown engine and transfer case problems, 2 separate issues. The next time I lost 1 month of 9 months of ownership due to electrical problems, glow plug problems, injector problems, and a bed that had to be repainted. All the while I am still making the payments and paying for insurance while it sat on the lot. On the first truck they blamed me for all the problems and the dealer said his hands were tied. He could fix it but the warranty claim would be denied and he would be left to pay. I understand where he is coming from and don't blame him. I would not want to be stuck with the bill for a engine on a truck with less than 20,000 miles either. Same thing when the transfer case let go and nearly took the rear axle out from under the truck when the drive shaft broke and went into the pavement.

Chris

Did you also go the Arbitration route first?

My point is we're lead to believe that Toyota is not suffering lower sales in our daily, no hourly pounding from the press about how poor GM & Ford's sales are.

Rarely a mention of Toyota or Nissan.

Oh, BTW last I heard Nissan was down 42%.

I think it just shows that Chryco, GM & Ford WON the race to the bottom.
Add up the CUMULATIVE losses over the last few years and I think you'll find that Chryco, Ford and GM "got there" fastest and first.
IOW, they've already hit bottom, little/nothing further to lose.

No, when they refused to fix it under warranty, truck had 3 yr 36,000 mile warranty, I made calls and wrote letters. After a month of getting no where I got a lawyer.

If I did not have a job I would have camped out in front of the dealers lot and stopped every customer that approached and turned them away. I could not do that because I still had to make the payments. It's a screwed up system. On the first go around I did not even get a loaner because I was not 21. They had a rule that you had to be 21 to get a loaner, something to do with the insurance. They sure as he!! took my money when I bought a new truck from them though. I was only 20 then. Same thing happened when the transfer case went out at about 30,000 miles. This time I got a loaner but it was not great. I think it was a Cavalier off the used lot.

You feel the same way I do. The dealer I had the troubles with on my first GM had 3 owners. 1 owner got greedy when he heard Wallgreens was looking at the area to build a new store. He bought out the other 2 then tried to put a deal together. That fell through then he tried to put together a deal with Applebees and that feel through. He went under in the last year. I could not be happier.:) I feel sorry for the employees but not for him and his family.

I guess another thread has morphed into another "Chris hates GM" thread.

Somehow I think there's more to this. You know the old saying:

"There's your side of the story, the other guy's side of the story, and then there's the truth."

Let's try to steer this one away from another "DP hates GM" soapbox and get 'er back on topic.

I've always have been a Ford truck person, but I bought my first Chevy in '91. Every 2 years, whether I wanted to or not, battery & alternator. The dealership about ruined the AC(put too much in the system),and the trans.(serviced it & didn't put enough in), then I found out that it was made in CANADUH!!! Had enough, bought my first (with sorrow in my heart) Toyota truck (made in Kentuck) in 2001, and haven't had a problem since. Regular servicing, 1 set of disc pads, & 1 set of tires. That's all it has cost me to run this American made Toyota. I believe Chev & Ford are "finally" making a better product and it's showing. We demanded better & they're finally listening.

Toyota trucks are actually made in IN and Texas. In Kentucky we make the Camry, Avalon, Solara, and now the Venza. Our vehicles are made in the US with primarly US made parts. Toyota believes in making vehicles where they are sold in order to sell more vehicles (by providing good paying jobs!) Makes since eh?! Wal-Mart and the big three need to figure this out! Thank you for buying a Toyota! :)

Howcome every Toyota I look at still has "made in japan" stamped on the engine block, transmission, wiring harnesses and some axles and many other parts?

I bet if i compare GM or Ford's fleet with Toyota's fleet use of domestic parts, GM & Ford come out WAY ahead! :)

My GMC truck was 82% US made. What's the % on your Toyota truck?
