Just how do you BUY AMERICAN?

Isn't Airbus a French company?

Airbus is based in Toulouse, France and is a consortium of European companies that are subsidized by their respective governments.

I saw on the news the other night that military enlistment is up due to the crappy economy. They showed a 36-year old chemist who just enlisted in the Army after he couldn't find a job in his field, and unskilled labor employers (e.g. fast food, warehouse, retail, etc) wouldn't hire him because he's over educated and over qualified for the work at hand. Now if a chemist is applying at Mickey-D's, he needs income now, and of course he'll bolt at the first chance for a well paying challenging job; but unskilled labor industries have a high turnover rate anyway. The chemist would probably bring a high degree of maturity, perseverance, and other positive job skills to wherever he works. Of course there are exceptions in every industry and labor level.

The current age cap for the military is 42, and they make exceptions based on skills (e.g. doctors, certain pilots).

Shane,I would like to see you make so much money you couldn't spend it,no lie.
Its just I don't want to be loaning your employer money, cause I don't think its a safe good loan.
And what really gets me is they didn't ask me before they lent your employer my money.
I've said all the rest.

I don't think it is prudent or practical, if possible, these days to ONLY buy American.

What do you think?

Pat

That Cummins engine in your truck is made in Indiana.

If you buy good quality tools you can get American made. For example Klein, Snap-On, Craftsman (wrenches), Sthil (US or German), etc etc.

It's been my experience you can still find good quality American made products if you look. Power tools is one area that it's becoming difficult. Milwaukee still makes their sawzalls here (I think!) and some other power tools. Powermatic is US made too. And great machines! So don't give up hope. If we demand American made products then the businesses will change their importing ways.

Cummins also has plants outside the US in Pune, India and England as well. I have some Powermatic shop tools dating back 25 years ago, they're all Chinese made. Stihl power equipment is a German company. Craftsman still makes a few tools here, but most of their junk is Chinese made now, too. I own a few dozen Milwaukee tools in my construction business. Most of their tools are now made offshore. Last I heard they still had maybe one or two plants building saws. I just picked up another Milwaukee circular saw yesterday for our crew-made in Mexico.

Aren't you the big Toyota guy? Don't you know they're a Japanese company that imports millions of vehicles, engines, transmissions and parts here into the USA every year?

Most of the chocolate is imported

Please point out where the non-imported chocolate comes from. I didn't know any chocolate was grown in the USA.

I went on the made in America sites. Yup there are bikinis, fast food, greeting cards, various nick knacks and all sorts of stuff. Didn't see much about metal and wood working tools and such.
