Isn't Airbus a French company?
Airbus is based in Toulouse, France and is a consortium of European companies that are subsidized by their respective governments.
I saw on the news the other night that military enlistment is up due to the crappy economy. They showed a 36-year old chemist who just enlisted in the Army after he couldn't find a job in his field, and unskilled labor employers (e.g. fast food, warehouse, retail, etc) wouldn't hire him because he's over educated and over qualified for the work at hand. Now if a chemist is applying at Mickey-D's, he needs income now, and of course he'll bolt at the first chance for a well paying challenging job; but unskilled labor industries have a high turnover rate anyway. The chemist would probably bring a high degree of maturity, perseverance, and other positive job skills to wherever he works. Of course there are exceptions in every industry and labor level.
The current age cap for the military is 42, and they make exceptions based on skills (e.g. doctors, certain pilots).
