Did you buy your tractor from TBN info

In 2005, I knew nothing about tractors. I'd never seen a Kioti, and have never seen another one besides the one I own. I did the whole deal thru TBN, by listening and asking others what I wanted. The advice was dead on!
I did not go to any dealers, I did not go "shopping". I've never driven another tractor. Completely sight unseen, all decided here. I also found my dealer here.

I've recommended TBN numerous times.

As a dealer, I'll throw out a huge flag when using TBN as your only source of information. There is quite alot out here that is plain wrong or misinformed. There is no substitute for finding a good salesperson at a good dealership. Be informed, but trusting the internet as gospel is not smart.

I grew up on a farm and knew what I needed/wanted in a tractor so I just went out and did a bunch of leg work to get prices, and options. TBN came later.

I did research this site to buy a couple of implements and it was a big help.

I have used alot of the info on TBN to narrow down my search and buy my last 2 tractors. I have also gottne tons of good ideas on everything form bucket hook placement, toothbars, chain holders and grapple attachments here. Great site!!! :)

As a relatively "mechanically-minded" person, I had a pretty good idea how things worked with tractors, however, my actual tractor experience prior to the JD2520 was only with lawn tractors and driving a few forklifts.

So, I used TBN for most of my research. I think that the people on here do a pretty good job of filtering out the statements that are absolute "BS". As for the subjective opinions, you just have to look at them for what they are and make your own decisions. Still, I think it's all good information to use in making your own decision.

At least it gives you some clues as to the questions you should be asking.

In summation, TBN has been extremely helpful to me in the tractor buying and using process and I am thankful to all the moderators and participants.

I discovered TBN about the same time I bought my Kubota BX2350. I was pretty lucky, I got a dealer that steered me in the right direction. I was really close to buying a 4 wheel drive lawn mower, when for a little more money, I got a subcompact tractor. I was looking pretty seriously at John Deere. I'm sure if that dealer had sent me in the right direction, I might have ended up with a green tractor instead of orange. The Kubota dealer really did a good job, when I look back, I realize I came pretty close to spending money on something I wouldn't have been near as happy with. If I had done a little more research on TBN or posted a question or two, I am sure I would have been sent in the right direction sooner. This sight is full of great info, and most advice is spot on, but like Messicks has said, it's worth what you pay for it.

All true. Internet research is simply a way to broaden my perspective. It is still necessary to cautiously verify the new-found 'information'. Lots of what you find online is naive, at best.

A good dealer is a great resource if you find a good one. For my American Yanmar, the Deere dealer who held the local Yanmar franchise 20 years ago just responded with ridicule when I asked if I could count on him for support. I've never gone back.

The only other knowlegeable dealer within driving distance was a VN importer, now out of business (twice!). Not much support there, but I did get my implements from them in appreciation of their advice.

Internet advice and mailorder parts is all there is. And my own wrenching, except it hasn't needed anything beyond hydraulic hoses etc in five years. This model works for me.

If I were earning my living with the thing daily I would buy something with local support, or else own a couple of spares. But like many here, this tractor is part of 'hobby farming'. Downtime wouldn't bankrupt me. CUT's are a different market from the professional farmer. Talking about them is part of the hobby.

I joined TBN several years before I found my used Kioti. I learned a lot about what to look for and prices I should expect to pay. When I found what I thought was a great deal, TBN confirmed it. I got great specific info from the Kioti board and general info on tractors in general. I asked many questions that TBN suggested I ask. Armed with the knowledge I inspected and bought the tractor. And I am a believer in TBN!

The week after I bought my tractor my local dealer went belly up. On TBN I found great advice and Wallace who is a great help (and even more so his wife!). They helped me transfer the warrantee etc.

TBN is a great place to get issues resolved, find new ideas and just learn, and one or two people around here seem to have a sense of humor :D.

Good point. I should have emphasized this. My research here provided me a model-specific checklist for my tractor that helped me distinguish weatherbeaten (it was) from high wear (thankfully, not). I went to check it out armed with the specific tests I needed to make. In a buyer-beware private sale, this was very valuable.

I decided on my tractor, a Kubota L3400 before I found TBN but I had not decided on where to get it yet. I had talked to 4 local dealers and got quotes from all. TBN is where I found out about Barlow Equipment which saved me over 2 grand over the local dealers. I would much rather buy local, but today with the ecomomy, I want that extra 2 grand in my pocket and not my local dealers. I have found a wealth of info on here and learned more than I could imagine from a forum. Thanks TBN!
