Skid plate insanity

After I broke the blades off one fan and replaced it, I decided I didn't want to do that again, easy fix and any time the MMM is off, about 20 seconds and this is in its place.

Having yet to experience the joy of replaceing a fan (wrenching my BX still qualifies as a joy btw) I thought some preventative fabrication would do well in keeping it a joy, hense my el-cheapo yet functional BX vital protector, otherwise known as a skid plate

Very nice skid plates guys. Since I consider myself "acetelyne challeged" I went ahead and did it the old fashioned way. I bought one!

Ill have to replace yet another HST fan on the little grunt before spring so I figured a skid plate would be a wise choice

I stopped by the dealer earlier this week and we were talking and he showed me a bx23 transaxel case that a customer one put jack stand under it to hold tractor up had a 2x3" piece of aluminum pushed into the transaxel.

I'm sure thats not gona be cheap to fix.

With the ability of the tractor to lift itself up, you would think a jack wouldn't be necessary most of the time...

Them are some nice looking skid plates. I like the idea of using the mower lift arms to mount it. That way you can remove when put the belly mower on and it wont be in the way when attaching the PTO shaft. Building one of these is going to be one of my near future projects. Good job guys.

IC Smoke, somehow missed the outriggers in your first picture looking at your skid plate which looks like great idea. In next picture did my best to understand the jack under the tire! Happened to scroll back up to first picture and oh, now I understand.

I can tell you unless a machine is protected for woods use, filters get torn off of all size machines. Doubt all tell dealership what happens especially on new machine as it was running and pumping oil out and they are worried about warranty issue possibly.

Just sent a messagetoletem know the displeasure i have after replaceing the fan on mine twice,boy that hurts! I ask if they are turning a deaf ear.Time to turn up the heat on Kubota.Send more e-mails.They should litsten to their customers!!! I am going out and build a skid plate just in case.I posted one of the early posts,great to see so much activity.Thanks jdj309
