TC35 rusted clutch

The vent in my 2120 is more like a drain positioned in what appears to be a low point in the bell housing. It is a hole with a cotter pin loosely crimped in it. My dealer slightly enlarged the hold so it wouldn't plug again. I would ask RickB about drilling a similar hole in your tractor.

I would never put an organic(fiber) clutch back in anything. Ceramic clutches last 10 times longer than organic. They dont slip and oil has little or no affect on them. I also won't install remaned clutches. Too many times at work we have had to change a remaned clutch because of wharpage or vibration. After splitting the tractor, ask your self if you want to take a chance of doing it again because you trid to save a buck on the clutch.

Yeah, your right. I'm about half way through this ... Its not quite as bad as I expected but I don't want to have to do this again for a long long time. The good side is .. I sure am getting familiar with my tractor. So ceramic is the answer, I am assuming it also has no metal in it so I don't have to be worried about rust again ...

What kind of debris was blocking it in the first place .. was it rust ?

I will be curious as to what is rusted to what. I am guessing that the splines on the clutch disk is rusted to the input shaft on the trans. If it is you will have a hard time getting the tractor split.

I have some questions, one is .... a member named WTA mentioned something (in message #17 of this thread) about non-metallic clutch pad replacements, are they any good, where can I get them? I can pound my own rivets so replacing the pads is a no-brain-er. Will they last as long as metallic? Has anybody thought about venting the bell housing to remove the moisture that condensates in there and solving the rusting problem? It's like an aquarium in there. Another question is where can I get a clutch alignment tool for this tractor NH TC35 over the Internet cheap. I have bought turned wooden one's that worked fine on automobile clutches and I don't need a silver plated one. Any help there ? Thanks for the read.

Has NH stopepd using the age tested cotter-jiggle pin and hole?

Well everything is clear ... all the reinforcement steel that's bolted on for the front end loader and the bush hog is off and out of the way ... all the linkage is disconnected ... hydraulics disconnected and all the bolts around the bell housing are broken loose. Tomorrow I build some "kick stands" for both ends and I should break it tomorrow night. I'll let you know about what's rusted. Is there a way to post pictures on this site and if so how ?

That is the best piece of advice I have gotten yet. I am using some angle iron for a kick stand bolted to the block. It's plenty heavy enough but I will make the width of the foot much wider to help stabilize the engine left to right and I will block the front axel as well. That's perfect timing .. Again THANKS.

I don't know the answer to that one, however I looked carefully all over the bell housing and there is no vent no hole and no cotter pin.
