John Deere Over-Rated?

Couple points-

Around here people who do not "need" a tractor buy "JD", because of marketing by JD, The "Hairy Homeonwers" in a sense are brainwashed into thinking they have to buy JD to get a real tractor. They are paying MORE for LESS, just to have bragging rights of owning a JD.

In this case Cheaper (Kioti/Bobcat) IS the Quality Machine.

Not sure if you have ever dealt with the construction industry or "real" equipment, but the Bobcat has parts and service that makes Deere look foolish, And My Kioti dealer will over night anything I need.

JD is in no way a better machine than Kioti, NH, Kubota, Agco (MF).
I can get My Daedong (Kioti/Bobcat) parts ASAP from multiple sources.

So in the end, with JD you are paying thousands more for 1 thing - Green paint.

Funny thing... My JD was priced right in line with comparable NH and Agco products. It didn't cost me anymore than any other color of paint. Who cares about the other brands when there is no dealer around to support them?

..and Bobcat? They really haven't impressed me much at all. Talk about paying more for less. Of course, maybe the T320 I had was made on Monday... I don't know. I do know that thing was a giant piece.

Wow, First, I have only needed 1 part in 21 years and that was a rebuild kit for one of my loader pistons. Instead of me driving out to get it the dealer had it FEDX to me next day from the manufacture.
Second, Don't all tractor companies do this??????
Third, why do you suppose parts for said tractors are available from multiple sources, think about it.

Not trying to knock JD but I have only bought parts for my JD mower twice. First time was blades and they were in stock. Second time was a belt tensioner and it took several days for the dealer to get the part. I'm sure I could have paid extra freight and gotten the part over night but I would also think this is the case with most other brands.

Getting parts for a recent machine is one thing. Getting parts for a 20+ year old machine is another. That's part of what you are paying for with JD. JD charges enough to ensure that they will stay in business. The others have to discount to gain market share, and may or may not gain enough traction to begin charging enough that their long term health is assured. That part of the risk one takes when they buy a second tier tractor.

Not sure if anything is certain these days,
Chrysler and GM would be belly up (should be), if the gov did not take em over.

Look at Daedong,s world wide market share of small tractors compared to JD's world wide share.
I beleive it comes back to marketing, some people pay 400 for a "coach" (sp?) purse, some pay 20 for the same quality, with out the fancy tag.

I've never heard any manufacturer ever mention Daedong as a threat to their business. They seem to have created a following here on TBN, but in the actual tractor business their impact has been nominal.

My main thing I wanted was, at least 1000 lift on the FEL, 2000# tractor, small size.

not to be a jerk, but what you bought won't lift 1000lbs. You fell pray to a creative marketing technique where the measurements are taken behind the bucket. The real world capacity is about 750lbs in the bucket.

I love the caveat at the beginning. No worries! When you're dealing with specifics and facts, the numbers are what the numbers are. "Creative Marketing," is an apt term. I only know of one company (Direct Push Technology drilling) that I've dealt with that lets the engineers reign in the marketing department. Any number written in the literature is a number every single machine they produce can meet. As such, the machines are often under-rated.

I wish all manufacturers would follow suit.

TRY this.

Go to the five most recent pages in the Owning and Operating sections of John Deere, Kubota, Kioti and Mahindra.

Tally up all of the problems people have had with their machines in those 5 pages. The total posts will be the same for each brand, so should be fair.

You will see that Kioti and Mahindra will have far more problems than Kubota or Deere. Deere and Kubota have about 35-40% less problem posts in 5 pages of threads. Now, consider that probably 95% of those problem posts in the Kioti and Mahindra sections are of machines that are 5 yrs old or less. Now consider that some of the Deere and Kubota problem posts involve machines that have been in service longer than Mahindras or Kiotis have been sold in this country.

Still think the second tier machines are as good as Kubota and Deere? I want to think so too, but TBN says otherwise.

Nothing self-serving or non-biased in that response. Daedong must be some kind of threat; you keep defending against them.

On the lift capacity. Hard to deny when comparing identical lift specs. Regardless of how you paint it deere, NH and bota don't have a tractor in the size/class of a CK20 that will lift as much. It burns in their crawl, I think.
