I wrote Wayne County Hose a quck note about "jumper" hoses for when you've not got a implement attached. Hopefully he'll give us a quick way to order the short 12 or 18" hose with the right couplers.

Kioti should supply a 'loop hose' as part of the remote installation package, with a warning label stating "Loop must be installed when no remote is attached"

When I took delivery the dealer told me about not leaving the remote on when nothing was attached.
I bumped the lever once while brush hogging and there is an immediate whine to the system that does not sound like its a good thing.

Warhammer

Yes, I agree. While mowing this afternoon I just barely touched mine and noticed an immediate loss in power and the whine. I have a feeling that very few folks would leave it engaged without thinking something just wasn't right.

Such a problem. You need the remote to have a detent position so that you can use it to run the backhoe or a log splitter which have their own valves. You need the remote to auto-return to center so that you don't burn out your pump. In regards to Kioti design changes I hope and believe that Kioti will leave it alone except for maybe improving the relief valve to better accomodate the flows without overheating. The remote should have the detent.

There are lots of things that you could do to ruin your tractor. The Kioti company is in the difficult place of trying to decide whether you caused the problem or whether it was a defect.

I think that the only way to get this covered is by pointing out that the remote was not in the detent position at all, ever, until the dealer allegedly "found" it there after troubleshooting the machine for several weeks.

Sometimes all you can do is pay for the repair under protest and then file a small claims action... I would calmly and rationally explain this to all parties.

Often, just filing and serving both the Dealer and Manufacturer is enough prompting to get an amicable solution.

I've done this a couple of times for friends that were wasting way too much time and becoming way too frustrated. Each time the problem was settled before going to court.

There are also the Federal Magnuson Moss Warranty Act and California Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act... commonly know as the California "Lemon Law"

In a nutshell, a product has to be fit for the use intended... also, there are provisions that automatically extend the manufacturer's written consumer warranty for each day the product is out of service due to a manufacturer's defect.

The only caveat is these are Consumer Protection Statutes and are not generally applicable to business customer's or business applications.

If your Dealer is a BBB member, you could also request arbitration as an alternative market place dispute resolution method.

When did they start putting detent valves in, my 05 DK45 doesn't have detent style valve,I have owned many tractors w/remotes and if they had a detent it was the float type.

BTW I stand by my theory that it was PP troubleshooting that caused the pump to burn up he put many O-rings in it and they blew, well that tells me the pump was indeed working when he got it and the pump got very hot that would take about 4 min to reach that. and how many times did he do this in 2.5 weeks?

Did he drop Kioti or did they drop him?

If John Deere can make/buy a detent valve that automatically returns to neutral when deadheaded, then why can't Kioti? Is there some technical reason? Is it oversight? Is it that it is patent protected? Or is it like the dash-mounted manual fuel shutoff - just to keep costs down?

If John Deere can make/buy a detent valve that automatically returns to neutral when deadheaded, then why can't Kioti?

Is there confirmation that the JD remote does that? I'm trying to envision the mechanism for such a safety and am having a hard time.

I have two remotes on my Kioti DK. One has a spring like action that permits partial opening of the valve in either direction (A or B) but it will spring back to off unless you pull it all the way back or forward to the detent to lock it open. The other remote (similar to the one I had on my CK20) is just a slide lever that has no spring and can be feathered but basically is designed to go either to A or B and stay there.

As far as a detent valve, I do not believe there is one on Kioti's- to my knowledge. However I could easily be wrong- so say so if that is the case.
I believe what people, including my self are referring to is the neutral position BETWEEN 'a' and 'b' position on the rear valve 'shift' lever.
One has to find 'neutral' position manually and it is easiest, IMHO, to do so by engaging the downward position of teh lever/stick which makes the tractor whine/squeal; and then to back off to the neutral,(detent) position and leave the lever/stick there. I personally would like it to be a 'no-brainer' valve that automatically returns to neutral without operator involvement. Why should one have to risk doing serious damage to their tractor when another type of valve is available- like what Deere seems to have on their machines?!
Its common sense to incorporate a preventative measure in a situation like this...
I DEMAND (please) that Kioti immediately retrofit all our tractors to the new type valve at no cost to us....
One can dream, right ;)

I'll post this again, there are two types of valves (that I'm aware of) for remotes that Kioti offer. One that locks or detents in position (for use with backhoes and such) and the other which spring returns to neutral on its own (for use dump wagons, tilt cylinders, etc..) As far as having a detent valve that returns to neutral when dead headed, this will steal some of the pressure that is available to the implement as the valve trip setting would have to be a 100psi or more below the tractor system pressure in order to be able to trip properly every time or you would get into the situation where maybe it would trip or it wouldn't.
