my John Deere automatically goes back to neutral if it isn't hooked up. you can push it forward or backward all day but the moment you let go, it goes right back to neutral. i was shocked when he said he must have accidently left it engaged because mine doesn't do that. ofcourse, i can only speak about John Deere tractors that i've been around. they are all the same way.

IT,

I don't have first hand experience. But, I have to take the man's word for it until proven otherwise.

My Kioti has a detent in the down/forward position where stays there when engaged. But in the up/back direction it is spring loaded and returns to neutral once released. No feeling for neutral. It automatically will find it.

A remote valve that springs back to neutral unless pushed to a detent AND springs back to neutral from the detent in the event of a deadhead is exactly what a log splitter valve does. You know, the auto-return feature where you pull the lever into the release detent and then go get another log. While you are away the cylinder retracts fully, deadheads, and this pops the control lever back to neutral.

Any downstream hydraulic reliefs would have to be set lower or else the remote lever would constantly pop out of its detent due to a false deadhead situation brought on by work being done on the remote circuit.

I like the spring to center option for a remote with detents in either direction. Is this option available when fitting a CK30 with the optional remotes? When either buying just one or both?

Not sure about the CK but it is available for the new DK series. I'm not sure if it is standard or if that is the second remote I had installed. I have one of each type (one each spring loaded and simple lever type)

When I bought my remote kit I had the dealer remove the detent balls from the valve to make it easier to use with my grapple. It looked pretty easy, only took him a couple minutes to do.

Got a call this morning, the tractor is ready.

I spoke with the Kioti tech support guy that denied the warranty claim a few minutes ago. I told him that I've reviewed my manual and all documentation and nowhere is there any warning about this valve. His response was that there is no warning in the manual about driving the tractor into the side of the barn either, but they wouldn't cover that damage under warranty.

I said that it would be obvious that crashing the tractor would cause damage, and common sense would prevail.

He claimed that running the tractor with the remotes engaged would also be obviously causing damage to the tractor. I asked why then the dealer's Kioti certified mechanic did it 3 times replacing o-rings each time. He said they only ran it this way for a few minutes each time, which is why it wasn't obvious.

Makes perfect sense to me, thier mechanic troubleshooting a pump leak, runs the tractor until the pump is hot and leaking, then tears it down and repeats, all the while not noticing the tractor even has rear remotes.

I asked for their court agent so I know where to send the lawsuit, he said he'd get the info to me by the end of the day.

They should then add a disclaimer that a 4 year degree in tractor engineering be required to buy a tractor. Not that knowing one's tractor's inner workings is bad, but sheesh this is a bit ridiculous. I don't buy his argument. These tractors are marketed to the homesteader/consumer and the companies should know full well that WE consumers are not necessarily mechanically inclined. I think that it's clearly an oversight on their part and they do not want to set a precedent that could cost them more warranty repairs down the road.

Kioti should supply a loop hose with every tractor they sell with rear remotes. The should also incorperate a locking mechanism for the remote lever. My loader joystick has a lock to keep it from moving, why not do the same with the remote lever?

They just called back, said they have no legal entity in VA so any lawsuit will have to come to NC.

Also pointed out to me that there is a warning on page 7-5 of the manual. That warning is for the double acting lever says don't hold the lever in "push" or "pull". The warning states that holding the lever will cause the oil to overheat, nothing about causing any damage. Just above the waring says that when you release the lever it will return to the neutral position.

The warning obviously doesn't describe the operation of my tractor.

The call ended with him basically telling me to do what I need to do, their not covering this under warranty.

I have been reading this with great interest. I have been looking at Kioti tractors. Since Kioti has made a "line in the sand", I would contact your state's Attorney General's Office, they have the legal power to get this resolved. I would bet that Kioti monitors this website and are aware of the comments being made. Most Attorney General's have Consumer Protection Divisions and some offer a online complaint form you can fill out.

Good Luck - Mark

That is a good idea but the problem is that it is the dealer, not the importer/manufacturer who installs the rear remotes on all CK tractors and also who installs the second and third remotes on the DK tractors. The manufacturers have no way of knowing who will install remotes and who won't. I haven't heard of any other manufacturers providing such a loop and even my very aware dealer just explicitly warned me about the problem rather than providing (and charging) for a simple return loop.

I agree that a short loop would be such a simple fix to this problem that is astonishing that it is not practiced routinely by all dealers/manufacturers. Even those who know about the problem can inadvertently deadhead the remote by catching a pant leg or something on the lever.
