get the fuel out of it diesel will grow algae in a short while. you can change filters for years trying to get all of the gunk out of the tank.

That is good advice. It is sounding like you may well buy the tractor and I wonder what precautions should be thought of even to test drive it. It has to have been sitting for a good while.

One of the best buys I ever made on a tractor was a 3000 diesel (Ford) I bought in 1988. It was a 1974 model. It had 2 hours on it. Owner dies of a heart attack while dealer was unloading it in his driveway. It sat in a garage for 14 years until his widow passed away. I bought it at the estate sale. Paid $1700. Did a quick clean-up/oil change, stuck new battery in it, and re-sold it in less than 1 week for $4800.

The buyer still has it. (BIL ) It's been a VERY good tractor.

I sure wouldn't shy away from the deal you're looking at.
