Now I'm wondering what will it be like to tow it with my 04 f350 single rear wheel diesel and my 20', 9950# trailer. I have to tow it @ 70 miles thru expressway and hilly secondary roads. I think it will be the heaviest load I will have towed. I'm thinking I should put the the front and back bucket and the thumb if it comes off easy on the truck to lighten the load on the trailer. Anyone towed a L48 on a 10000# trailer can tell me what it was like?

I'd say the truck should do fine being a 1 ton turbo diesel.

Truck sounds fine but that 10K trailer will be overloaded. I wouldn't do it on a stock 20 foot 10K trailer, but you know your trailer and your CT cops better than I do.

You will be fine, depending on your trailer weight you may be over GVW a little but not enough to worry about IMO

I've only done it with a two wheel drive dodge half ton and it was a hand full! I'd say you should be fine as we have customers that use simuliar outfits.

You won't even know it is behind you. That tractor is not that heavy and the truck is more than edaquate for the load. Check your mirrors to be sure it is behind you or you may think the truck isn't pulling a trailer.
We pulled a TC 45 DA with loader and 6' box blade a couple hundred miles with an 04 F350 diesel. I don't even think the fuel mileage dropped.

Start out slow and easy and in a few weeks you will be pulling it like it you know what you are doing. I would check the tires and make sure they are in good shape and full aired up. It does sound like your going to be finding out how well your trailer is built.

The truck will pull it no problem but I'm concerned with the trailer. I don't know how close to max weight it is going to be or if it is going to be over which I don't want.

What does the trailer have for tires and wheels 16" 10 ply with brakes on both? what size axles are on the trailer? The tractor should wiegh in around 8k with out loaded tires and close to 10k plus the trailer??? It all depends on the trailer I have seen trailers that I would not haul a lawn mower on that were rated for 7K and seen better built 5k trailers that I would not have an issue hauling 10k on.

I bet you could get the dealer to deliver it for $100-$150 if your really worried and then you can load it @ home and take on a few local trips to see how it handles. I might be cheaper than 1 blow out on the interstate.

I'm surprised diamondpilot hasn't poked in but -
Based on your scant info you'll be even or slightly over -
A$$uming your trailer is 20' tandem and NOT aluminum it'll probably be about 2K or more.
Now the 20', 9950# trailer - is that the listed GW? For example my trailer is sold as a "5 ton" trailer, and it's comes with a big 5 on the trailer, but that does not include the weight of the trailer and the GW is 12000lbs, and the trailer weighs about 2K.
L48TLB Oper. Wgt. w/Backhoe, lb. 7760
That brings you to 9.76k lbs. Add some fuel and MAYBE a chain or two and your right on the border.
If anyone here tells you that it is safe to drive it over the limit feel free to sue them if you get in trouble.

Be safe. If you can get the buckets in the bed it'll give more margin.
/edit - tell you what - my tractor will fit fine on your trailer, your's will fit fine on mine - why don't we swap tractors :)
