That tractor is not that heavy and the truck is more than edaquate for the load. .

that tractor is easily near 8,000, the factory claims 7700 with no fluids,, I know mine weighed in at 8800 and this was with soft cab, the 15 gallons of hydro, and engine oil and fuel...I also had a huge piece of glass front and two smaller ones on each side all surrounded in a steel frame as part of the soft cab. I also had quick attach hoe buckets and this adds some weight, I am guessing another 40 pounds for that set up. We have one after another short but very steep hills in this area and will be a hard pull most of the time as you really can't get up some decent speed,, Also, as I live almost on top of a scale house and can't get around it and having to pull in, the CT state is pretty picky with laws,,, Where this gentlman lives, there are no scales and he is going once from pick up to his home. Even though I believe he will be quite a bit over rated trailer weight,, I personally would use his set up and not even think about it,, Now, if he were to go part time commercial, I would change the trailer to one at least at 12, 000 and prefer 14000. which would help with added pieces like a grapple..

The truck will pull it no problem but I'm concerned with the trailer. I don't know how close to max weight it is going to be or if it is going to be over which I don't want.

Just weight the trailer then.

What does the trailer have for tires and wheels 16" 10 ply with brakes on both? what size axles are on the trailer? The tractor should wiegh in around 8k with out loaded tires and close to 10k plus the trailer??? It all depends on the trailer I have seen trailers that I would not haul a lawn mower on that were rated for 7K and seen better built 5k trailers that I would not have an issue hauling 10k on.

I bet you could get the dealer to deliver it for $100-$150 if your really worried and then you can load it @ home and take on a few local trips to see how it handles. I might be cheaper than 1 blow out on the interstate.

It has 16" E tires, the GVWR/PNBV is 9950 LB
the FR/AV is 6000LB
the RR/AR is 6000LB
I never was sure why 2 6000LB axles but GVWR of 9950. Maybe the way the trailer is desighed?this is a private sale.

SO you basically have a 12k trailer that was down rated to stay under CDL

How does one register trailers in CT?
It does seem someone pulled the 9950lb rating out of their ...
If the OP is going to be pulling often I'd suggest a weight distribution hitch and be polite to the troopers.

The trailer is rated by the manufacture and I do have a WD hitch.

That's what it sounds like...

I have a 7k trailer and I bought a L35TLB with a curtis softside cab, a SSQA front loader mount and QA backhoe bucket mount set up (estimate 6500lbs, the trailer must weigh 1800+)...I hired a trucker to deliver it to me from Maryland to CT.. The guy's truck (an 08 Dodge) broke down before he left MD..(no way was I going to wait any longer). I got the trailer ready and drove down and trailered it back on the 7k trailer..Hey' I wanted my tractor.
Pay someone to do it or do it yourself with what you own..Be safe and drive careful.

(If the tongue weight is factored off the load weight I was within the limit):D

I think you will be fine. It is common for trailer manufactures to down rate a trailer to stay under the 10,001 lbs requiring a CDL license. Your WD hitch is a big plus. I often put my loader bucket in the bed of the truck so I have a bit more room on the trailer. That should save you 400 lbs. on the trailer if you can do it. The one thing that could put you way over is if the tires are loaded on the tractor.

That should put you in with in a safe operating limit as you have 12k of axles and 12k of tires as long as you have a good ball and hitch on it. And with 10-15% on the hitch, this would put the trailer @ 9950 with the GW of the tractor and trailer and leave a safe margin on the axles and tires. I would say your only problem may be the DOT if they stop you and wieght you and you don't have the correct plates on the truck or trailer, but i would not worry about it unless you have to drive by the scales.

Just remember you have more engine than brakes in your truck.(goes for all brands)
