Good hearing from you ....in law:). Know what you mean about hating to get her dirty and havent broke out the shop vac yet , just a whisk broom to get the heavy mud off the floor but I sure do go through a lot of windex;)

Not to happy with the starter today it ran fine all morning with a few shut downs and start ups ok , then after lunch I ran it for mabey an hour shut it off for about 20 minutes and the same old story... click ....nothing , held the key over a bit too long and pop goes the fuse.
Make a long story longer tried the tap tap tapparoo still nothing.... after it cooled off for a few hours started right up ,worst part for me was the customer who was paying me and the machine for the day was not too happy but what can you do? $h-t happens as they say .
If it lets me down once more I am going to get the starter re-built because I mostly use the tractor for work and can't afford to let that happen. Once again let y all know what happens. Lone Oak

Lone Oak Landscaping,

your still under warranty why should have to sweat this out. Have skip give you a loaner until he fixes yours.

Hey John , What are you some kind of mind reader how'd you know I bought my tractor from Skip ?
He is agood man and I have no complaints about the way they do buisness at his place good people over there. He picked up my tractor (twice) and brought it back about 30 miles round trip when I had a problem with the cruise controll at no charge. I know New Holland isn't picking up the bill for that one .

Then get this one , I had a amber light velcroed to the cab roof for plowing which I was stupid enough to have forgotton to take off or at least tell Skip about it before he picked upthe tractor , well .guess what at highway speed it fell off the cab roof and thank god it did not hit a car or worse.

Well it gets better, the next day when I saw skip face to face thinking what an idiot he must think I am . He gave me a new light bar for free ! I still do not feel right about taking it from him , but will never forget it or how good everyone at Chambers tractor has been to me since the day I waklked on the lot just tire kicking.

Sorry for getting so long winded , but with all the bad things you hear about dealers these days, the least I could do is give a good modest man like Skip a few well deserved kind words. They just don't make guys like him any more, but since you must know him I am not telling you anything you do not already know.

I figured the starter was one of the things that was not covered under warranty but thanks for the advice I will look into it.

thank you again ,John -Lone Oak Landscaping

A starter rebuild might be just the thing to at least identify where the problem is. This problem is so unfortunate because it happens mostly when the engine (and therefore the starter) are warm. It makes you want to carry a CO2 fire extinguisher to cool things off if it happens. When mine was really acting up, I had a job about 3 miles from my house. I took the tractor there and didn't kill the engine for over 4 hours even though I was only really working it about 1/4 of the time. I just didn't want to take a chance on it not starting. When you are doing something for a customer or somebody else, it is the worst if your equipment fails.

As I've mentioned before, this problem is really a "bear" because it happens only sometimes when the tractor is hot and you can't reliably demonstrate this to the dealer. You have to have a good relationship with him and he has to have faith in what you are telling him. It's hard to fix what ain't broke. I think you need a new warranty starter since your income depends on a working tractor. I hope your dealer will support you for the replacement. You might discuss this with him before taking the starter to a repair shop. He might have a shop he deals with or want to just replace the starter with a new one.

Johnnylight , Thanks for good intentions and advice , right back at you neighbor if you ever need a hand just say the word I am located in the Cornwall area.
Jinman , well once again ...............you must be getting sick of me thaking you. Your advice is always highly valued . I 'll get her straightend out one way or another ( warranty or pay for re-build ) then I will let the gang know if that takes care of the problem ,really want to get the bugs out of it before the snow plowing season starts nothing worse than wrenching out side in a snowstorm. Brrrrrrrrr.
