I got a few letters very similat to that one, they did prove legitimate, from the DNC (Democratic National Committee.) Being an independent I didn't go for it, but now I see on TV that several banks and car companies did.

i had a donkey for sale a couple years ago: advertised her in the state paper: got a call then email from a guy that wanted me to ship her to his dad in New Jersey: was going to pay me $1800 for the jenny, plus shipping: i was asking $100....i played him along for weeks, he sent me 3 "checks", $600 each: i took them to the bank at WalMart, told them what was going on, an wanted to know if they would have cashed them, if i hadn't said anything: they said they looked real to them: but when they ran the numbers, i don't remember if they had been cancelled or did not exist, but that would have stopped it..i had a good time carrying this guy on about the donkey: then when i got tired of it, i told him she had died, with all 4 feet stickin straight up in the air and a smile on her face: he immediately replied wanting to know if i had another one i could replace her with.

I am gradually collecting a stack of checks from scammers. I have about $10,000 in fraudulent checks so far. I keep wondering if there is a way to scam the scammer, but I haven't come up with anything worth trying yet. There are actually a few sites and groups out there dedicated to scambaiting. Welcome to the 419 Eater

I got so sick of all the scammers I'd get from my craigslist postings that I set up a separate yahoo e-mail just for the purpose of stringing them along. I've had a lot of fun with it. My next goal is to see how many times I can get a guy to send me the same check... I sent it through the wash, I misplaced it, can you change the "pay to:" name to be that of my business, etc.

Anything that has the words "This is not a scam" in it is a sure fire scam.

:rolleyes:my latest,
Hello,

My Name is Sr. Francisco De Manuel Mateus,

I am from Portugal I have been diagnosed with cancer. It has defiled all forms of medical treatment, and right now I have only about a few months to live, according to medical experts.
I have not particularly lived my life so well, as I never really cared for anyone (not even myself) but my business.
Though I am very rich, I was never generous,I was always hostile to people and only focused on my business as that was the only thing I cared for.But now I regret all this as I now know that there is more to life than just wanting to have or make all the money in the world.
I believe when God gives me a second chance to come to this world I would live my life a different way from how I have lived it.I Would want to have a Personal and Trustworthy Relationship with you, as I intend and willing to empower the change of ownership
for the transfer of my Deposits to your personal possession for further Investment and Charity Disbursement to the Less Privilege and Homeles write me via my mail: ( fmanuel00@hotmail.com )

I will send you the photos of me and my very hopeless and selfish family members, including my wife, who I learnt is getting married to my personal friend and attorney,
Thank you for your due consideration. God be with you.You can reach me through my private email address at (frgdmanuel00@hotmail.com )

Sr. Francisco De Manuel Mateus.

These scams are all over the Net these days, I must get at least 2 per day. Most originate in Nigeria, as I understand the legal climate there is favorable to the scammers. I have seen so many different angles, email address came up in lottery as winner, huge estate fundings being left to you, oil royalties scams (using Exxon/Mobile in the email), etc. etc.

They are all the same, you can't reply to the email address as they really want to getyou on line and get you hoooked. Sad that there are gullible people in this world that fall for these things. One only needs to remember that "if it sounds too good to be true, then it is."

I just wonder if anyone actually thinks that putting "No Scammers" in the body of the ad really stops anyone.

I have an assortment of some nasty viruses that say " open for all my private information"

Funny thing is I never hear from any of them again.

I used to get up to 500 spams a day until I noticed they were from China. I replied with some choice words about freedom of speech, democracy, choice words about the Chinese President, words like REVOLT NOW, Free Tibet, etc. etc. The E-mails dropped from 500 to 25 in a week.

See In China if you have anything bad about the government on your computer even if it came from someone else YOU GO TO JAIL.

So it looks like the spammers didn't like my responses as all the e-mails are scanned by the Government.

That's some good thinking:D:D
