I got a few letters very similat to that one, they did prove legitimate, from the DNC (Democratic National Committee.) Being an independent I didn't go for it, but now I see on TV that several banks and car companies did.
i had a donkey for sale a couple years ago: advertised her in the state paper: got a call then email from a guy that wanted me to ship her to his dad in New Jersey: was going to pay me $1800 for the jenny, plus shipping: i was asking $100....i played him along for weeks, he sent me 3 "checks", $600 each: i took them to the bank at WalMart, told them what was going on, an wanted to know if they would have cashed them, if i hadn't said anything: they said they looked real to them: but when they ran the numbers, i don't remember if they had been cancelled or did not exist, but that would have stopped it..i had a good time carrying this guy on about the donkey: then when i got tired of it, i told him she had died, with all 4 feet stickin straight up in the air and a smile on her face: he immediately replied wanting to know if i had another one i could replace her with.

I have an assortment of some nasty viruses that say " open for all my private information"
Funny thing is I never hear from any of them again.
I used to get up to 500 spams a day until I noticed they were from China. I replied with some choice words about freedom of speech, democracy, choice words about the Chinese President, words like REVOLT NOW, Free Tibet, etc. etc. The E-mails dropped from 500 to 25 in a week.
See In China if you have anything bad about the government on your computer even if it came from someone else YOU GO TO JAIL.
So it looks like the spammers didn't like my responses as all the e-mails are scanned by the Government.
