Yup, same formula, just solved for C.

I Just used the 3,4,5 Triangle method....same deal

measure 3' down one side, 4' up the other and the diagonal should be 5' between those 2 points. IF not you adjust and re measure.

I must admit, it drove me bonkers trying to square my Run-In shed, and level it since its on a bit of a hill.

A few pics of the materials on the ground. These show the piles of stuff. It all came on a tilt-bed truck, which was good since it protected the steel from forklift damage, but bad since the steel and trusses are on top, and the columns and girts on the bottom of the stacks...

Low-$ forks for my loader to help move poles and things around...

I did the same thing for forks only I used some 4x4s I got from a barn I tore down. I bolted mine to side of the loader to keep them in place.

See if you can get some forks with the skidder you are renting.

Then you can unstack the steel from the lumber piles and orginize all of it.

Now that's a good idea! I had just sent in my rental reservation right before reading this, so I quickly sent this addition to it. That will be perfect to get the piles unstacked and the way I need them. I had tried to think of other things I could use the skid loader for, but drew a blank...duh!

Thanks for the tip, that'll save some time and effort.

Skid loader is reserved. Tomorrow after work I'll pick up what's supposed to be a Deere 317 with the post hole power unit and an 18" auger and also a set of pallet forks. Dad's got a 317, so I won't have to worry about a learning curve with a machine i haven't run before. It's supposed to rain some tonight, but not too much, so maybe I can go ahead and dig holes tomorrow evening. If the weather holds for Thursday, I plan to put in a solid day setting poles, maybe get extra use out of the skid loader before I have to haul it back to town.

Hopefully it has the same controls.

Rental can tend to have hand controls.

The controls usually aren't the problem, but rather the safety stuff. I know dad's 317 has certain orders it likes for things like sitting down, buckling seat belt, part brake on/off, etc or it'll get a little stubborn. I've run enough different control styles to pick up on that pretty well, once I figure out the trick to starting the dumb thing! :(

We got nearly 1" more rain last night around 1:00am or so. Had a sunny day with a little wind, so things dried out some, but still a little muddy in parts of the shop area.

Picked up the skid loader after work today. After meeting with the contractor about some house stuff, I was able to get it unloaded and unstack the shop materials. I think I managed to get the steel picked up without mangling the bottom sheets with the forks. The trusses are now sitting sort of flat on some old 2x4's so they aren't sagging over a pile of lumber like they were.

Plan to get out and get the holes remarked and drilled in the morning before the next round of rain chances comes around at noon or so. I don't think they're expecting much rain tomorrow unless I'm unlucky enough to catch a stray thunderstorm...
