John Deere 4120
Hello,

First of all, I apologize if I've posted this in the wrong forum and please forgive me for my limited knowledge in regards to tractor parts.

I plan I buying a John Deere 4120 any day now and I'm just trying to tie up some loose ends to make everything "perfect".

Anyhow, I plan on buying either a grapple bucket or a 4 in 1 bucket however I was dissappointed that John Deere doesn't offer any type of hydraulic control switch that would hook on the loader joystick so I could operate BOTH the loader and grapple/4-1 at the same time.

As it stands know it would appear I would have to use a second lever to control the grapple/4-1 so I could only operate one at a time.

Does any one have any experience with any type of hook up that would allow me to operate the loader/grapple at the same time AND would be approved by John Deere so as not to void any warranty?

MANY MANY THANKS for your help.

Best,
Steve

Steve,
You are correct that JD does not offer a great solution. Their kit includes the line that run down the loader mast, and then lines that run from the rear remote ports to the mid-section of the machine. But I assume you already know about all that...

You other two option are aftermarket, one (true 3rd function) would require slight modification to your machine, while the other (electric diverter) can be made plug-n-play so it could be removed easily. Either way you would need to make or but a new joystick handle that includes a switch.

Search the terms "diverter" and "3rd function" in the hydraulics forum, then come back with your thoughts...

I myself use a diverter setup and find it quite functional, but probably not as convenient as the 3rd function-but it was a much easier install on my smaller framed machine.

Thanks for your reply Kenny ! Very much appreciated and I also very much appreciate the helpful "terms".

Really helps to have the proper terms when doing searches and WOW what a lot of information ! Needless to say I'm very much overwelmed. I certainly need to learn a lot more if I've ever to have a better understanding of this stuff.

best,
Steve

Don't know if this will help you but the 110tlb has the electric switch built in for the auxillary hydraulic circuit on the joystick. Might be able to use those parts.

Hmm...I think I'll ask my dealer. Sure would be nice if it would work ! Many thanks for the input.

Hello,

Many thanks for the link. I will run it by my dealer, but I think this unit was never put into production by John Deere.

I remember my dealer punching a part code (could be different than the one your showing?) into the computer and it kept coming back as not found/improper code. He called John Deere directly and they told him the unit was never put into production. Only one to find out......

You might be right....I googled the LVB24854 and LVB24855 Bundle numbers and they are the same bundle PN's as the stupid Diverter....

Unless this is something new...this is the diverter option and it's VERY expensive. I stand by my original post.

Well, last spring JD "released" (I saw the dealer paperwork myself) a Real Solenoid activacted hydaulic valve that was controlled by a thumb switch on the loader control arm...ETA last spring was supposed to be Fall of 08....but I've never personally seen it....

I think USMC2531's dealer is correct in that JD probably announced it but it never came to fruition.....
