Sales numbers only prove that it's the most popular or the cheapest buy, they in no way prove that it's the best HD pickup. Plus, there's no way your going to have the best HD pickup when it's powered by an engine that wouldn't even suffice as a boat anchor.

Has nothing to do with Dodge. You can buy a vehicle at that dealer but they can not service it? Come on.

Like I said, my local GM and Ford dealers sell diesel trucks but do not service them either. You have to go to another larger dealer, so it does NOT have anything to do with Dodge. Every manufacturer has dealers that sell diesel trucks that cannot service them.

Sales #'s could mean that they are on average the cheapest priced trucks, or best marketed trucks and therefore sell more units than the lesser selling brands. Fleet buyers buy the cheapest fleets of trucks. If they can buy 11 Ford HD trucks for the same price as 10 non-Ford trucks, they'll do it everytime.

McDonalds sells more burgers than the other fast food chains. The reason is price & marketing.

Me, I'll take a Wendy's burger over a McDonalds burger any day. They taste better, but they don't sell as many. The reason is because they cost more and they're advertised & marketed less.

Ford will never win the $$$$ war. I have compared them all many times. That is why I bought the Hemi 2500 and the Dmax. It came down to dollars. A comparable Ford Truck has been 15% more in my experience. That is before all incentives, just sticker price. Now fleet pricing may be a whole other thing. I look at it as you get what you pay for.

Now back to the OP. I do not care who sales what, they should be able to fix it or transport it on their dime to someone who can and give you a comparable loaner while under warranty. I guess I am lucky with my dealers. I have left the lot every time in something as nice or nicer than I brought in. When I had my Hemi in for its tranny replacement I got a brand new truck which they tried to talk me into. Same thing with my F-350 the one time it was in. I got a King Ranch Dually. The only place I ever had a issue with was the GM dealer who tried to put me in a Cavalier when I brought in a Dmax. Ended up settling for a F-150 they had on the used lot and beat the heck out of that thing. Let a co worker pull shrubs with it!

Dealer doesn't have a diesel tech and would of needed to outsource it and didn't have anyone readily available!

Based on the dates in this thread, you've already spent 13 days trying to figure this out which is probably longer than the dealer would have taken outsourcing it. Take it to the dealer and make it their problem whether they outsource it or not. At least then it could be covered under warranty.

I just wanted to give everyone a quick update - the truck is still dead.

Still a mystery.

Has so far been to 3 different diesel techs (only one charged us a hefty price, the others nothing thankfully)

Been to one dealership and sent away.

And is now at a wire mechanic, who is clueless and I'm waiting to go get it.

So far - both harnesses to the computer has been changed as they were both dead, ignition starter, cam and crank sensors, etc...

We finally figured out that if you wiggle the main harness it makes it start 'ticking' so that we can start it. We changed the main harness (cummings only) and that finally took away some of the 38 codes and now allowed for the transmission to shift. BUT there are still 8 codes - various of high and low voltage. The "wire wizard" (the company name) thought it was the other harness as the plug was loose, and changed it so far bill is around 1300k there and it's still not running

They are now thinking the inside of the computer "pins" are not meeting properly - they are coming up with a figure of 3k (which I got one for $700 before but returned it when the truck did the same with new and old ECM).

Soo we're at a standstill still. It's speculation at the truck has been affected by lightening - the dead patch on the grass and all the issues the dealer and wire guy thus far seem to thing that may of been the case.

Just wanted to give the 411 that we know so far - everyone for their help thank you. It's going on two months that we've been without our truck and it's really affecting business still...

If lightning caused it,hopefully your auto insurance will pick up the bill for it.....minus deductible of course....

Thats a bad deal. I have a nephew whose truck was hit by lighting, and it was a really big deal to fix, they replaced alot of the wiring and other electronics, and it still wasn't perfect when he got rid of it. Good luck.

Honestly Diamond-Pilot I would of come back and at least said what the issue was...I wish I could come back and say it has a "clear bill of health".

I went down to the shop today cause they promised me an update monday and never heard from them.

The guy who is "just" out of like 30 guys in the shop wasn't there so I sat in the drive till he actually blocked me in not knowing it.

After "much testing" and now completely draining the battery he found that there is a completely shot "heating solenoid". He replaced it (of course unauthorized repair, wasn't too happy only charging me part not labor) and now it's acting even weirder giving new codes and completely draining a charged battery. He's clueless. He wants to do more testing and let me know what happens on thursday. He claims he's going to order a $200 used computer (he can flash them) from TN and have it shipped up and see how it acts under a new computer...if it completely clears up then there is a bad computer and back to sq one with getting a new computer, again.

I'm just at such a loss with this truck.

The insurance is giving me a hard time, unfortunately it's a friend of ours and a guy we have done contracting work so a close relationship but they want a ton of proof and other bs that since the whole incident my browned out grass is no lnoger obvious as if from lightening since we're in weird weather conditions.

I'll keep you guys updated...I just want to get it done and over with already costing me an arm, leg and first born.
